Another reason I don't think the Assyrian is the antichrist is Daniel 8:
8 Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.
9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.
----
This little horn is the one we saw in Daniel 7
8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71085202 In Daniel 8 the Ram (persia-Iran) is obliterated before the little horn makes his appearance.
This hasn't happened yet.
Some may disagree. However, the angel makes it clear this vision is for end times & also in his interpretation he tells us the babylon he is talking about is in the future; Not the babylon of the present.
Dan 8:
7
And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and
stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.8 Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.
9
And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.
I discussed Dan 8 and rise of the antichrist on this page:
