The prophecies in the book of Revelation have been an ongoing thing since God the Father gave them to Jesus who gave them to the angel who gave them to John, who said that these are things "which must shortly come to pass" (Revelation 1:1).
The book of Revelation is a combination history and prophetic trip from the time Jesus ascended to Heaven until our time. There are only a few more events left to happen. We are in the very end of the end times.

The events in the book of Revelation have been happening for the last 2,000 years, there was no 2,000-year gap from John's visions until our time. "Shortly" is the key word. There are only a few events left, the entire book will not be happening at once, that does not make any sense.
