That distance on a globe or a disc is the same.

Higher up on a globe (N) long is a "shorter" distance relative to the wider, lower part of the globe.

Closer to the center on the disc (N) is a shorter distance relative to the larger circle, on the outer part of the disc.


What you are thinking "lower" is then "outer". And what was "northern" is actually "inner".

I get your premise better now OP, you're saying the lower part of the globe Earth would have to be measured over a shorter distance while on the disc it would be the entire circumference of the outer disc instead of the smaller circle that loops around the upper and lower portion of the globe.
