The Word of the Lord came to Jeremiah
4The word of the Lord came to me, saying,

5“Before I formed you in the womb I knewa you,

before you were born I set you apart;

I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

6“Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”

Its interesting the word of the Lord comes to Jeremiah, and Jeremiah calls the word Sovereign Lord. Kinda like the Word in Johns Gospel.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning. 3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcomea it.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Re: The Word of the Lord came to Jeremiah
11The word of the Lord came to me: “What do you see, Jeremiah?”

“I see the branch of an almond tree,” I replied.

12The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watchingb to see that my word is fulfilled.”

13The word of the Lord came to me again: “What do you see?”

“I see a pot that is boiling,” I answered. “It is tilting toward us from the north.”

14The Lord said to me, “From the north disaster will be poured out on all who live in the land. 15I am about to summon all the peoples of the northern kingdoms,” declares the Lord.

And Jeremiah is having a conversation with the word.

Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth. 10See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”

This person Jeremiah is talking with reaches out and touches him.

Hosea 12

3In the womb he grasped his brother’s heel;

as a man he struggled with God.

4He struggled with the angel and overcame him;

he wept and begged for his favor.

He found him at Bethel

and talked with him there—

5the Lord God Almighty,

the Lord is his name!

Hosea's inspired commentary seems to suggest Jacob struggled with the Lord Almighty, not just an angel.

Is this another sign of the Word that was made flesh.

So Jacob called the place Peniel,f saying, “It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”

Jacob saw God, face to face and lived.

18Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”

19And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 20But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.”

So Jacob could see Gods face and live, but God told Moses no one can see Him and live.

Why the difference?

But Israel reached out his right hand and put it on Ephraim’s head, though he was the younger, and crossing his arms, he put his left hand on Manasseh’s head, even though Manasseh was the firstborn.

15Then he blessed Joseph and said,

“May the God before whom my fathers

Abraham and Isaac walked faithfully,

the God who has been my shepherd

all my life to this day,

16the Angel who has delivered me from all harm

—may he bless these boys.

May they be called by my name

and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac,

and may they increase greatly

on the earth.”

Why did Israel ask God and the Angel to bless Joseph's children? Was Israel an idolater? Or maybe God and the Angel are very close to each other.

Re: The Word of the Lord came to Jeremiah
There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. 3So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.”

4When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!”

And Moses said, “Here I am.”

5“Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” 6Then he said, “I am the God of your father,a the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face,

So the Angel of the Lord is God. The same who is the word appearing to Jeremiah, and the same one who came in the flesh.

God said to Moses, “I am who I am.c This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’ ”

Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” 59At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.

Re: The Word of the Lord came to Jeremiah
I prayed to God to make me as Jeremiah:)

Aesop Fables 530 (from Phaedrus Appendix 5): Prometheus, that potter who gave shape to our new generation, decided one day to sculpt a statue of Truth, using all his skill so that she would be able to regulate people's behaviour. As he was working, an unexpected summons from mighty Jupiter called him away.

Prometheus left cunning Trickery in charge of his workshop (Trickery had recently become one of the god's apprentices).

Fired by ambition, Trickery used the time at his disposal to fashion with his sly fingers a figure of the same size and appearance as Truth with identical features. When he had almost completed the piece, which was truly remarkable, he ran out of clay to use for her feet. The master returned, so Trickery quickly sat down in his seat, quaking with fear.

Prometheus was amazed at the similarity of the two statues and wanted it to seem as if all the credit were due to his own skill. Therefore, he put both statues in the kiln and when they had been thoroughly baked, he infused them both with life: sacred Truth walked with measured steps, while her unfinished twin stood stuck in her tracks.

That forgery, that product of subterfuge, thus acquired the name of Falsehood, and I readily agree with people who say that she has no feet: every once in a while something that is false can start off successfully, but with time the Truth is sure to prevail.

Eh no. When Jeremiah said Sovereign Lord, he was talking with Yehovah, God Almighty. Also, he used the word Lord, that was added by the English translators. Yehovah is the name he spoke. This can be seen from a strong concordance,

See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. 21Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him. 22If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you.

Can angels forgive, or is this angel someone much closer to God?

Re: The Word of the Lord came to Jeremiah
Eh no. When Jeremiah said Sovereign Lord, he was talking with Yehovah, God Almighty. Also, he didn't use the word Lord, that was added by the English translators. Yehovah is the name he spoke. This can be seen from a strong concordance,

Re: The Word of the Lord came to Jeremiah
See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. 21Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him. 22If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you

Can angels forgive, or is this angel someone much closer to God?
