MLK Day How are you gonna celebrate?

I'll just celebrate it however I feel at the moment, and hope I hadn't planned on going to the bank.

Nothing against MLK; good man, and I believe in equal rights for any black or dark person who can assimilate culturally.

I was buying some Barefoot wine and a pack of American Spirit BLACK at the gas station down the street 5 pm or so. Virginia small town, and the place is usually filled up with folks buying lottery tickets, and I have never seen a white person buy a lottery ticket there. I mean, it's hard to even get checked out for just a pack of smokes, because the hindoo cashier is too busy selling lottery tickets! Actually, those "hindoo" cashiers are very nice and polite, and a couple I could even hang out with.

A black man with dreads in a very nice SUV drove up, and had his about 5 yo son with him. I was leaving with my wine and cigs, and opened the door for him and his child, and he gave me sort of a glare; not too bad seemingly, but then I got outside, and the sterio in his car was blaring some rap song with lyrics including a very prominant "muthafucka, muthafucka."

I'm open-minded, and cuss in front of consenting adults from time to time myself, but please; MF in a car with your 5 yo boy? No wonder some of them are the way they are.

Martin Luthor King, though: I'm not sure I agree with a national holiday for him, but that said, if all black people were like him, there would be no problem.

My bank is open. Business as usual. What holiday?
