Rock stars need not apply. Could we just have the crown with a new monarch every ten years. Selected like a jury at random. I just feel that to ask any family to provide a monarch for a country is unreasonable. Free the royals! |

All i know is that the current royal family had to change their name to Windsor because they are German. But they have defected, they are British now, its not like they work only in the interest of Germany..... OR is it..... At the end of the day i think it might be for the better if the monarchy were granted more powers, rather than only being symbolic. Although if used wrongly great power can be a bad thing, AKA Obama and his executive orders.. Life is a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves. |

Free the royals! i dont support britain's monarchy but its still interesting to see who is the 'rightful monarch' according to the original laws of succession before they were replaced/altered or simply ignored in the event of conquest/usurpation when william of normandy proclaimed himself 'king of england' in 1066, he certainly wasnt the 'rightful monarch' according to the anglo-saxon laws of succession that would be ludwig of bavaria, today ... the 'legal' heir of egbert, ethelred ii, and edgar the aetheling ... if edward iv really was illegitimate, and was not the actual son of Richard Plantagenet, as has been alleged ... then his enthronement in 1461 would be another example of ignoring the laws of succession in place ... edward did not change any laws of succession, however, unlike william ... regardless, though, whether he was 'legitimate' or not, edward iv still remains one of the most despotic and tyrannical monarchs of english history ... so much of what is wrong with 'the state', embodied in a single individual ....
