The cantaloupes, which were imported from the United States, were sold under the Llano and Nature’s Partner brand names. They were sold in Safeway and other grocery stores in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Yukon and Northwest Territories in the Nov. 7-18 period. Safeway stores in Calgary are voluntarily recalling the affected fruit, which can either be whole cantaloupes or pieces. Salmonella causes symptoms such as fever, vomiting and diarrhea — and can cause serious or deadly infections in the very young or old. No one has reported illness from eating affected cantaloupes. I always really wash every thing before I cut it as those melons grow right on the manure rich dirt and if have bacteria on the skin which a knive distributes through the slice if it isnt cleaned. |
