Make sure that number is an IRS number. You should never give any personal information on the phone. If you have been using a valid SSN, then there shouldn't be any more to discuss. If they want your SSN, then you know its a scam. |

You are now the official supporters of a Juan. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69001916 There is a literal cottage industry of people stealing identities and filing false income tax returns. I had it happen to me several times...I even had the IRS confiscate MY bank account because THEY gave a $6,000 tax refund to someone filing as me. I have NEVER gotten a return anywhere near that big in my life, even when I was married and my children were dependents. You would think that might have tipped them off, but no...So, I had to go through a nightmare, and I now have to get an ID theft pin number from the IRS every year to file. Oh jeez. That's horrible. What a nightmare. OP, thanks for the post. We've been hearing it on the news off and on for weeks. I've not filed yet, so I'll have to cross my fingers. I've used TaxACT for about 10 years now (online service) with no issues. I guess I'll be taking a deep breath before I start them this year. Good luck! |

Tax-Refund Fraud Soaring, Little IRS Can Do by MATT HUNTER "Here's a conspicuous flaw in the system as currently set up: To file a tax return electronically, all someone needs is a name, date of birth and an SSN. The IRS accepts tax filings as soon as Jan. 1, but employers aren't required to submit correct employment information to the agency until March, by which time roughly half of all refunds have been paid out. (For that matter, the IRS doesn't begin matching employer-submitted data to tax returns until the summer.)"..... [link to www.nbcnews.com] Thanks hun! Im gonna go sit and read this. I doubt it will help us fix this but might provide some answers as to why. Good luck! At least if it is some type of fraud with your husband's SSN you can find out now. FUCK THE IRS SIDEWAYS! However, your advice, in this instance, is ill advised. Until YOU, and at least half the country STANDS UP AND REVOLTS AGAINST THE IRS AND THIS CRIMINAL GOVERNMENT AT THE SAME EXACT TIME, the individual going through this kind of scrutiny and bullshit will be criminalized and he/she left in the cold. Until that revolt, the individual is best advised to clear small issues. In his poem Human Pride, Marx admits that his aim is not to improve the world, reform or revolutionize it, but simply to ruin it and enjoy it being ruined: With disdain I will throw my gauntlet full in the face of the world, And see the collapse of this pygmy giant whose fall will not stifle my ardor. Then will I wander godlike and victorious through the ruins of the world And, giving my words an active force, I will feel equal to the Creator. “Looking for consciousness in the brain is like looking in the radio for the announcer.” – Nasseim Haramein, Director of Research for the Resonance Project |

You just happen to be among a group of lucky winners that now have to prove their identities so the IRS can show internal auditors that they do have an identity verification process in place and they use it.
