A lot of the black women I talk to have a cultural practice of tolerating cheating from men and sharing their men with other women and men. Many of them don’t like it but it’s so rampant in their communities that they just accept it as normal. Their fathers and grandfathers and great grandfathers had multiple women/baby moms/ MEN.

This kind of tolerance should be discouraged and if appealing to their moral sense does not work than the risk of contracting HIV should.

They should scrap all LGBTQ outreach programs and instead divert the outreach to black women victims of HIV/AIDS. There should be education and social / spiritual support for black women because they are the victims in this more often than not. It doesn’t seem fair because they aren’t usually the ones engaging in risky sexual behaviors or using needles.

It’s a sign that it is not enough for you to just inertly not do anything even while your partner is fuck1ng everything and everyone, and feel alright with yourself because of that, clearly not doing anything is still contributing to the HIV problem because you’re tolerating a behavior from your partner that’s going to kill you or shorten your life.
Watching innocent people die of AIDS is awful-they leave a big hole in the lives of the people that loved and needed them. The worst part is the shame involved, so many of the family members and victims themselves grieve in absolute silence. Imagine going through something like that and not being able to even talk about it with anyone because of the stigma.

I used to work in a low income medical facility type place (I’m being purposefully vague) that housed a lot of younger homeless and mentally ill / drug population. I was there for a really long time and I’ve seen a lot of stuff.

There were tons of black & white men with AIDS. This story is about this one white homeless meth addicted guy with AIDS. He had a super sunken in face, no teeth, and just looked like what a stereotypical idea of what an AIDS patient would look like. He had a wheelchair he sat in all day even though he didn’t actually need it. He’d park at the front entrance of the facility and basically ask for change and spare cigarettes.
I remember the white guy fell in love with a white female mentally handicapped crack whore/prostitute. She was borderline retarded, had a guardian and couldn’t drive a car or graduate from 5th grade but could suck dick for crack and have unplanned pregnancies and things. I remember she had pretty severe fetal alcohol syndrome - was only 4’10” tall and 79 pounds or something. Severe impulse control and behavioral problems. I remember there being a big uproar because they entered into a relationship and wanted to have sex unprotected inside the facility-there was considerable debate amongst the administration about her ability to consent. I know people cringe at the term retarded but I’m not saying it in a derogatory way, just implying that this person was severely developmentally stunted. Way back in the day they had a variety of really colorful medical terms like “moral idiot” to describe these people. I find those terms much more offensive, though often quite accurate.

In the end the attorneys and everyone decided that the only thing they could do to stop them was to educate them both about AIDS and his AIDS status, offer them condoms, (which they never used,) and offer them a private place to have sex (I guess it’s a human right.) She ended up not only contracting AIDS but also getting pregnant. A few weeks into her pregnancy, they kicked her out of the facility.

He raped multiple small boys and was a lifelong repeat offender. He would talk to people in this totally psychotic sweet little boy voice and wheel around in a wheelchair he didn’t actually need. His favorite thing to do was to find any excuse to touch the other patients-it didn’t matter who, he wanted a hug or a handshake or to pat someone on the back. Well, this one time he tried to touch the wrong person. A super schizophrenic, super manic, high energy young black guy who just really laid into him with his fists. Broke his nose and his glasses. I hate to say it but everyone was super happy about what happened.
Anyway, the pedophile with AIDS eventually died after a few months. Not from AIDS but because he was on an enormous amount of psych meds which caused him to gain weight and develop congestive heart failure.
