Coeur d'Alene Police Chief Lee White said that Odom drove from Coeur d'Alene to Boise and caught a flight in Boise and traveled across the country to Washington, DC. It's not known, White said, how Odom, who had an active felony warrant for his arrest, was able to purchase a ticket and fly across the country.

Odom's car was found in Boise and is being processed by law enforcement agencies there, White said, adding that Odom did not have a firearm in his possession at the time of his arrest.

Remington family informed of arrest, “Happy everyone is safe.”

Odom's family were the first to report they were told by police that he has been arrested, followed shortly thereafter by the Coeur d'Alene Police Department, which confirmed his arrest in Washington, DC. The Odom family released a short statement Tuesday evening:

"We are thankful for the safe apprehension of our son Kyle. As Kyle was not living with us, we are learning of his plans as they are being revealed by police. We are truly thankful to God he is safe and no one else has been injured. Please respect our family's privacy at this difficult time."

The family of Pastor Tim Remington have also been apprised of Odom's arrest. Remington's brother said they were "happy everyone is safe."

Odom, 30, has been the subject of an intense manhunt for the last two days since Remington was shot six times and critically wounded outside Altar Church in Coeur d'Alene following Sunday services.

Odom was in the church during the service and was later seen on surveillance video allegedly shooting Remington.

White said that the second person who had Odom had allegedly plotted against at Altar Church, Associate Pastor John Padula, was placed under protective custody as a precaution after authorities determined Odom was plotting against him.

Social Media played role in arrest

In a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon, hours before he was reportedly taken into custody, Odom posted that he had shot Pastor Tim 12 times – Remington was hit six times – because he claimed he was a Martian who had ruined his life.

Authorities were able to track Odom through his use of social media, a law enforcement source told ABC News.

White added that Odom's social media posts also gave local law enforcement some insight into his psyche.

He DROVE TO BOISE and hopped a plane to Washington D.C. I don't think they counted on him doing that.. oh and the apprehending Secret Security asked him why he shot Pastor Tim and he said "because he was an ALIEN". ?????

Him being able to board a plane is fishy! How could he purchase a ticket and get past security, especially since there was a manhunt for him. Plus, I don't believe he would have been so stupid to post an update on Facebook knowing that LE would be able to pinpoint his location.

His arrest came the same day bizarre messages were posted on the former Marine and Iraq War veteran's Facebook account and local media outlets such as Spokane, Washington's, KXLY received his "electronic manifesto."

"Things are not what they appear to be. They world is ruled by ancient civilization from Mars. Pastor Tim was one of them, and he was the reason my life was ruined," read a statement no longer visible on his public profile.

Later in the statement Odom said that he had to go because "they are chasing me," adding that he had shot Remington 12 times and "there is no way any human could have survived that event."

It is now being reported that Pastor Tim's wounds are much worse than having been reported prior. His son was interviewed and it is clear the response to this was typically Christian.. we forgive the shooter and it is a miracle Pastor Tim is alive. Now.. the truth of Kyle Odom becomes hazy. The manifesto on FB.. states he felt the Pastor had "ruined" his life.. now this places Odom next to him early on.. and that the "12" bullets should have killed him. Is Odom watching the news? How does the whole family know before hand he was "stalking" the Pastor? Which Aliens (Martians) is he referring to.. grays, blues, reptilians? I saw a picture of Pastor Tim at the Ted Cruz rally.. he looks nothing like the pictures shown on the TV.. now we really do have a Conspiracy Case.. comments?
