Looks to me like the cop thought Finicum was going to keep going straight and hit the vehicle the cop was behind so he dove away from being behind the truck and at the same time,
Finicum veered to the left in the same direction the cop dove.
Cops are not suicidal and the cop nearly getting hit was not required for the other cops to open fire on Finicum.

In a presentation at the Deschutes County Sheriff's office, a video presentation was shown combining the FBI's aerial footage of the LaVoy Finicum shooting with Shauna Cox's cellphone video from in the car.
