This is a good point OP but what do you make of the theory that modern humans interbred with Neanderthals and another extinct line of humans known as the Denisovans at least four times in the course of prehistory, according to an analysis of global genomes published on Thursday in the journal Science.

The interbreeding may have given modern humans genes that bolstered immunity to pathogens, the authors concluded.

“This is yet another genetic nail in the coffin of our over-simplistic models of human evolution,” said Carles Lalueza-Fox, a research scientist at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology in Barcelona who was not involved in the study.

The new study expands on a series of findings in recent years showing that the ancestors of modern humans once shared the planet with a surprising number of near relatives — lineages like the Neanderthals and Denisovans that became extinct tens of thousands of years ago.

The first clues to ancient interbreeding surfaced in 2010, when scientists discovered that some modern humans — mostly Europeans — carry DNA that matches material recovered from Neanderthal fossils.

The researchers found that all the non-Africans in their study had Neanderthal DNA, while the Africans had very little or none. That finding supported previous studies.

But when Dr. Akey and his colleagues compared DNA from modern Europeans, East Asians and Melanesians, they found that each population carried its own distinctive mix of Neanderthal genes.

The best explanation for these patterns, the scientists concluded, was that the ancestors of modern humans acquired Neanderthal DNA on three occasions.

The first encounter happened when the common ancestor of all non-Africans interbred with Neanderthals.

The second occurred among the ancestors of East Asians and Europeans, after the ancestors of Melanesians split off. Later, the ancestors of East Asians — but not Europeans — interbred a third time with Neanderthals.

Because negroes have a very high percentage of very primitive DNA.

We may be up to 4% Neanderthal but they are 13% Homo Erectus and God knows what else.

If they were extinct and we only had prognathous negro bones to study they would be classified as Homo Africanus, a different species altogether.

Climate had more to do with shaping modern humans than just about anything else.

Basic common sense demands that people trying to survive the European ice ages had to become more intelligent and inventive simply to survive the winters. Whites would have went extinct if they did not use their brains to survive the harsh climate. African climate changed very little over thousands of years other than wetter/dryer so they didnt really need to develop their brains much further than the stone age so they didnt.

Neanderthals managed to adapt and survive the harsh winters so maybe they are the ones who passed superior intelligence on to the modern humans through DNA. Either way, whether it was Neanderthal DNA or self evolution for survival, blacks were not involved so never got the higher intelligence.

The suggestion that the scientists are dancing around is that Africans are the result of interbreeding with a different relative of modern humans and as a result have no Neanderthal DNA. In other words their ancestors didn't mate with Neanderthal but most likely they interbred with one of the other evolutionary branches. This would explain a lot of the problems the majority of Africans have.

I won't go into much more detail since it'll probably get the thread deleted but this was actually taught for a short time in schools. Africans are in fact closer to primitive apes because they bred with the wrong branch of the species.

It's the truth but you won't hear hardly a mention of it in our media.

The modern rose breeders have mostly bred the scent from hybrid tea roses. To get that back one has to go back into the rose's lineage and pluck the dna from a grandparent or great grandparent who has the scent. Not the parents' dna.

The bold part of your thread title is misleading born out of ignorance. Neanderthal were not a primitive / animalistic species rather quit the contrary and it is very possible that neanderthal genetics helped greatly propel the development of human evolution... Neanderthal are known to have developed instruments and music, they could speak a language and had primitive forms of writing. They were highly social and organized within their tribes. The entire popular image of "cave men" is nothing more than pure fantasy and possibly designed too better obscure the sophistication of neanderthal for when this scientific knowledge was later released to the public.

Neanderthal are human, and human are neanderthal... They aren't gone, lets get that clear here. The neanderthal species must have very strong dominant genetics for the percentage of modern European DNA to be as high as scientists are willing to admit. While the purebred species neanderthal has been extinct presumably for quite some time.

Now the real question is, if all races have neanderthal DNA especially Europeans with the highest percentage. While Africans have none, is the African race really human being? The same species as those that share a common ancestor (neanderthal)?

very good point! Archeological evidence actually proves agriculture developed in Northern Europe at least as early as in the Middle East/Sumer. The oldest evidence of cheese production (dated 5,500 BC) in the world was found in Northern Poland in Kujawy.

The bottom line is that in harsh climates you have to PLAN for THE FUTURE observe and adapt to natural cycles and keep records of the cycles!! In many areas with hot climate you can survive by simple hunting and gathering as at almost any time of the year there is something you can eat and obviously you don't need to protect yourself against the cold, thus build advanced structures. In other words, you don't really have to plan more than a few days ahead...

Blacks obviously lack the ability of long-term planning and its not their 'fault' but the effect of the environment they came from. In fact, right now most of humanity is devolving due to the coziness of modern conveniences. Blacks and other people from the south don't really have to adapt to colder climates as they are sheltered by modern civilization. Take that away and we'd be back to purely white north and mostly black south in no time at all.

Why do you assume that Neanderthals were more violent? They were killed off because they were less violent. Look at the artifacts left by both species: Did Neanderthals leave spearheads and hunted-animal paintings only? They buried and cared for their dead and held a theory of the afterlife. They were more advanced than their brother species in many ways.

The African branches, with little Neanderthal DNA, were the more violent ones.
