Re: Anyone Frequent "Mall World" In Their Dreams
A brief description of this place from something I wrote elsewhere a while back:

"1. The dream was unusually vivid for a dream that didn't seem to be that "Same Place".
2. I was able to turn lights on and off, something I usually can't do in my dreams.
3. I could read text in this dream. Usually I can't make out what anything written says in my dreams.

The Dream:

I was outside walking along a sidewalk in an area that seemed to be zoned for retail and warehousing. I entered a long, low, two or three story building that seemed from the outside to be a warehouse. I don't recall being with anyone on the outside of this building, but as I began to explore the interior, it was apparent that I was with someone. I believe it was a woman. It seems to me that we both had decided to explore the building. It was not apparent whether this was an abandoned warehouse or not. (Thinking back it seemed to have an air of decay, disrepair or something. Kind of like some of the areas in the dream-place in my other thread.) I think I was on the second or third floor when I noticed she was with me. I don't recall ever being on the ground floor. We were looking down a very long "isle" which ran parallel to one of the exterior walls. There were warehouse type windows running down the length of this wall, and at the end there seemed to be a doorway which opened on a anteroom or some type of vestibule or stairwell. Perhaps it was a stairwell with a door on the other side leading to the rest of the floor we were on. That seems about right. In the stairwell or anteroom in addition to the door leading farther into the warehouse there was a firedoor leading to the outside on the righthand side. Perhaps to a gangway/walkway fire escape kind of structure. It also led to the roof. I remember this because at some point in the dream I became separated from the woman who had apparently gone back to this door to try and find a way out of he building. I remember she wanted me to go with her to the roof, but I had become absorbed with examining the rows of items in the building.

There were piles and piles of books. Some on shelves, many were simply piled up. Like a used book store. There were other things in addition to books. Before the woman and I became separated, I had picked up a small dark blue "vase". You might call it a miniature vase. In the vase there was some kind of dried flower or something similar. I asked her what this little vase-like thing was and she told me something like "It's what they used to call a buffet in the old days".

Anyway, I think it was shortly after this that she left for the "roof". I didn't see her in the dream again. As a matter of fact, I don't really remember seeing her at all, just conversing with her.

So, I'm making my way farther down the isle towards the far end and find another door or archway leading into a room filled with various musical instruments. It reminds me of your typical music instrument store. There were keyboards, electric guitars, acoustic guitars, drum kits, etc. Apparently there were more electric guitars than acoustic. I decided to look around this room briefly, and saw a couple acoustic guitars mixed in with the others. In this dram-world guitars are apparently displayed laying on their sides instead of in the typical vertical position. Anyway, I picked up one of the guitars. It was a highly polished laquered black acoustic. I tried playing a few chords. I picked up another and noticed there were other people in this room looking at things to. The second guitar I picked up said on the tag that it was a "Renaissance guitar" from the Grumman company. There is to my knowledge no company that makes guitars called Grumman. I did however check out Renaissance style guitars on the web the next day and found the one in my dream resembled the general style of Renaissance guitars, except that it was full size.

Unfortunately I don't recall any titles of any of the books I saw in this place. I could read them though which is unusual for me in dreams, and while wandering around in this warehouse I turned on lights which I usually can't do in dreams either. Usually when I flip the switch or pull the cord nothing happens. In this dream the lights were the single bulb type you might find in a basement with a dangling string to pull.

That's pretty much all I can remember. Except I think near the end of the dream I went through the door in the "stairwell" leading to the outside/roof/fire escape to look for the woman who was with me.

I should keep a dream journal beside my bed. Perhaps if I had immediately written this up upon waking certain other details would have been remembered.

So what do you think? Random dream? Akashic Records and Antique Shop?"

I've visited The "Akashic Records and Antique Shop" dreamscape I referenced earlier on once, maybe twice, but It left as vivid a memory as the recurring dream locales.

Fill it up with tables packed with antique nick naks and books and the like, add a row of industrial warehouse type windows on the right, make it much more dilapidated and dim the lighting to dusk and that's it. see photos from the fairly long post above.

Add a row of windows on the righthand wall. Make a doorway at the far end of the room. Through the farthest window at the end of the wall on the right you would be able to see that the building is L-shaped and that there is a walkway or fire escape running on the outside of the building. Put up bookcases and add tables piled with books and assorted antiquey items and that's pretty close.

I've noticed that "Mall World" I have to sort of get pulled into. In order to fall asleep and experience any of the "World" dreams it's like you get go completely but it's like being pulled along in a rollercoaster car like along a track and you can get out and get off the track or hop back on later. It's not so much a track as it is..I don't know..a channel? Fuck it's hard to explain but this post and OP has really made me trip out so hard tonight on this stuff.

Re: Anyone Frequent "Mall World" In Their Dreams
from memory, the only dilapidated place i've been was something like a lowset Spanish bungalow perhaps abandoned but definitely new and in construction, so no landscaping, just rubble.. but i think inside there was some mid-century furnishings and lots of pretty stained glass windows.
and i was with a guy who i lost while we were exploring the property, or moving in!
and yep it was one of those dreams that i woke up from wondering where it was and who was the guy
strange how some dreams can be extreme or dramatic but the ones that are seemingly so banal end up being the most striking x)

Re: Anyone Frequent "Mall World" In Their Dreams
I just have to clarify that this post:

Wow.

Wow. Wow wow wow wow.

"highway world" (between worlds) and "downtown urban world" as well as way out on the cusp of this dreamscape there's "hotel world" and "college dorm world".
 Quoting: Publican

"Highway world". That's part of it too. As well as "downtown urban world" and yes, some kind of wacky "college dorm world". Byt the feeling is that all of these different places are contained within the same place/city/locale.... whatever you might want to call it.

College dorm world dreams I've had seem mazelike - each dorn room leads on to the next. No hallways. But then there are some hallways as well. Seems when I'm there I'm moving out, as are the other people. This place is somehow either right next to a body of water, or these "dorm rooms" are actually compartments on a vessel that is sitting on a body of water, but is also able to fly somehow. Like an impossibly large delta shaped hydrofoil ship/aircraft or the like.

Once I was able to make my way out of the maze-like rooms and found myself walking on a what is best described as one of this crafts wings, but the craft was resting on a body of water.

OP,

What about "Sports/Amusement/ThemePark" World?

With big huge stone archways that take you to different parts. Some of the archways are actually like stores that sell books and all kinds of shit but you can just walk throgh the store to keep going to the next part of the "World".

There's a ballpark, a pavilion, a midway;

There's some kind of old wooden tower that's a rollercoaster of sorts that for some reason is never working right when I visit but people wait in line anyway and just walk along the tracks.

Oh, some of the archway stores have either books; clothes; crystals; pawn shop type items or video games.

Very interesting..

while I cant remember a dream of this specific place you both speak of, reading about it does strike a terribly familiar feeling.. there is a place ive been in dreams not regularly but it does seem to be the same place through my life.. the dreams are years apart though

in what always seems like a dusty (but nice like floor polish) room that seems to be a shop.. no lights though but not dark.. I cant explain that bit.. like a room in daylight with the blinds closed

havent thought about that in years, thankyou :)
brings me a sense of comfort

Mine is a city with steep streets, I'm looking for a particular bar, get close, but never find it. City is kind of medieval, but has modern traffic. very vivid , and as you said OP, not a recurring dream, it is different every time, just the recurring place.

A related part of this world is described in a thread I wrote elsewhere. It may be found by searching for this in quotes:

""Akashic Records And Antique Shop"? Or Just A Random Dream"

Representative photos are there that may jog someone's memory.

"Mall World", "Akashic Records and Antique Shop World", "Tobacco Shop", "Campus World" and "Dilapidated Urban Neighborhood With Houses and Small Storefronts" all seem to be in the same city.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71664791

This is too weird. I have this dream all the time. It seems to be this gigantic indoor city structure with sort of a traditional mall set up, but huge and expansive and for me there is a college inside there too. Mind you I'm almost 40 years old so it's not like I'm still in school and it's fresh in my mind. The last one I had there was this gallery where people were watching people go to court. Then I walked through mall and there were all these holographic street performers, like it was the new fad or something and they were running kiosks. I went upstairs to my apartment, also part of the mall. I've had other dreams that involved more of a bunker type section and distinctly remember stairwells with yellow rails. I've also seen the post-apocalyptic burned out town many times as well.

Re: Anyone Frequent "Mall World" In Their Dreams
I always start off in hotel world..then mall world...then upstairs is the campus/school where I get distracted by something..."where's my locker...forgot my combo" Then I realize I'm dreaming and tour the down town area..there is a city section and a rural section...city section has a definite ethnic vibe Mexican/Asian. I spend most my time in the rural area..to get out to the rural area feels like you are on a roller coaster...long trails...maybe even a cemetery...small houses and trailers with nick knacks scattered across their front yards. there's also a massive hill that's very hard to climb also if you go back thru the mall there is an exit but it just leads to this fenced off area resembling a jail/fema yard where it's always either raining or snowing.
