Cruz has been a long time Republican, but he's also been a thorn in their side, first as Texas Solicitor General, then from his Senate seat. Nothing I've seen in his votes in the Senate, or his positions indicates anything is about to change in his ideology...unlike Trump who changes his ideology every time he goes on TV... And this is the first time in recent memory to me where people made issue of the political stances of a First Lady. Frankly first ladies have had very little power over the years, and everything in Ted's Senate career indicates his wife's politics don't have much to do with his own. Uruk-Haillary set a very strong precedent for the necessity to also vet First Ladies, don't you think? Look where she is now. Yeah, but she's 1 out of 45, and she was much more active as a "Partner" almost in Bill's campaign. They even said she was going to have a big policy role. I voted Trump in the primary because Cruz has that feeling of the establishment and bankster influence. This sheds more positive light on him. Quoting: exlibris Good post ST. He's pretty famous for the Medellin case in Texas, the other SCOTUS cases were pretty much procedural stuff having to do with the Texas Prison system, mostly kicked back to lower courts, then one as a private attorney for patent infringement. You know why as well as I. Cruz and Ron Paul were both trying to do as other True Tea Party candidates have done, and that is push the party back to a Conservative Constitutionalism Platform. There is a natural relationship between the Republican's and true conservatism, most of the base is composed of true conservatives, so it's a natural fit. If Trump can knock the current leadership out of their cubby holes more power too him, but it's looking more and more like they're going to stave him off in the end, and that will just entrench them that much more. I think the political pendulum has swung right in this country, and we actually had some candidates like Cruz and Paul to take advantage of that from a tea party perspective, but here we are. I know it's all one party, you know it's all one party, but there are two options, either Co-opt it to your platform if you have that natural relationship and base, or blow it up with a third party. I'm not sure we're really going to make any headway against the GOPe this time around, it's frustrating, we've been at this a long time. Anonymous Coward User ID: 15182746 United States 04/09/2016 10:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I recall maybe a few months ago, I heard it reported that George W. Bush said of Ted Cruz, "I just don't like the guy." Even though I voted for Trump, that makes me like Cruz, especially that he fought and won against yet another globalist sellout by Bush. Quoting: TheRon 71601071 Dubya’s Anti-Endorsement of Cruz Couldn’t Have Come At a Better Time Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70668837 By: Steve Deace | October 26th, 2015 "According to Politico, Bush ’43 sized up Cruz as Jeb!’s toughest Republican opponent before heaping still more praise on him. In fact, big brother George gave Cruz the mother of all establishment endorsements. “I just don’t like the guy,” Dubya said of Cruz, who previously served the former president as an advisor during his 2000 presidential bid." "I know Cruz’s recent quarterly fundraising numbers were outstanding, but money can’t buy good tidings like that. You mean the ex-president, which every conservative goes out of their way not to mention on the way to deifying Ronald Reagan, doesn’t want you in his exclusive establishment club? The president who refused to openly criticize Barack Obama while the Marxist in the White House was dismantling the country thinks you worthy of his disdain? The ex-president who bottomed out in the polls and handed Congress to Pelosi-Reid has condemned you? Well, I guess Cruz just won’t be able to call up Dubya when it comes time to abandon free market principles in order to save them or some horse puckey like that. In the meantime, he will just have to settle for being too cool for establishment school. And going into this week’s debate, the timing is outstanding." "Because the press likely won’t be able to help itself, Cruz should have such a moment set up on a tee for him on Wednesday, especially with speculation swirling that Dubya’s Bush brother Jeb! is prepping his last gasp. After the moderators try picking a fight between presumed frontrunners Trump and Ben Carson, Cruz’s turn will come to answer a version of the very question that has more or less defined the entirety of his Senate career: “Why is George W. Bush just the latest member of GOP leadership who has a problem with you?” Cruz may have demurred when he was first asked to respond to Dubya’s “endorsement” last week, but that was then. No need to rush into an opportunity for a political disemboweling when millions are just days away from turning on their TVs to witness such thrills. Then, when the time is right, you pounce like you’ve just come across a B-list Hollywood actress at the Iowa State Fair, or the overmatched president of the Sierra Club. No need for Cruz to pretend he isn’t dying to answer this question. In fact, if the first question directed at him during Wednesday’s debate doesn’t address Bush’s insult, he should proceed as if it was asked anyway. Cruz needs to put his name on this. With big, bold letters." [link to www.conservativereview.com (secure)] |

Of all the rival Republican candidates, there is one who gets under the former president’s skin, who he views as perhaps Jeb Bush’s most serious rival for the party’s nomination. It isn’t Donald Trump, whose withering insults have sought to make Jeb pay a political price for his brother’s presidency. It also isn’t Marco Rubio, Jeb’s former understudy who now poses a serious threat to his establishment support. It’s George W. He tries to brush off the mountain of shit Rafael has blatantly carried on his back with the "it isn't true" line. hahahahaha fucking laughable. Just came out. The dude's campaign was telling donors to donate to his super pac once they reached the donation limit for his campaign. BTW the superpac mentioned is ran by Mitch Mcconnels lawyer. “If you hit your max then we have a table for you that is the unlimited table,” Keet Lewis, a bundler for the campaign and co-host of a Dec. 30 fundraiser in Dallas, says on the recording provided to POLITICO. “It can take corporate dollars, it can take partnership dollars, and that’s the super PAC, Stand for Truth, so pick up some of that information.” links [link to www.politico.com] [link to theconservativetreehouse.com (secure)] Just another sleazy shovel full to add to his growing mountain of garbage. Don't feed the opie, he refuses to see anything wrong with his daddy Rafael. He use to ban pro-Trump and anti-cruz posters so there goes his credibility. |
