The epicentre of the earthquake was located 39-km west-southwest of Eskasham town near the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border. The place is about 282-km north east of Afghanistan capital Kabul. The place is within a few kilometres of the epicentre of the 7.5 magnitude that had struck the region on October 26 last year. The tremor forced residents of Kabul, Islamabad, Lahore and Delhi to vacate their homes, though immediate reports show no sign of casualties or major damage. Quoting: Goofy for God Pakistani officials estimated the quake that originated near Afghanistan’s border with Tajikistan to be a magnitude-7.1. The U.S. Geological Survey has rated the tremor at a magnitude-6.6. In Islamabad, terrified residents fled their homes and offices as buildings swayed.
