Media Corruption and Ex Patriotism

Preface: How many of you would change or allow your story to change if the price is right??


So this story comes after a long and heated discussion with a friend who writes for the local paper and has been covering events related to this article. The gist of the the story is that a county citizen brought up motions to either bring back the state constitution of West Virginia or be expatriated and declared a sovereign citizen or some shit.

The real story is the blatant and allowed scrubbing of stories this pressman has written, and moreover the lax attitude of the reporter in question.

This man has (and paraphrased) said that "Doesn't matter what they change my stories to as long as the checks keep coming."

I questioned his moral standing saying something about how if the story I wrote was altered to fit the agenda of the paper/establishment that I wouldn't stand for it and quit. He rebutted with a line ultimately saying that he doesn't care what the editors change out of the original story as long as he keeps getting paid.

There are not enough words to express how upset I was to hear a long-time friend say that money was worth more than the real story. And mind you this is a smaller newspaper not some New York Times shit. Plus the money was shit anyways.

Either way, this goes to prove that all media is polished before it hits the shelves no matter how small or or obscure the source is. Makes me fucking sick.

For any interested, the story that I thought would be good to get perspective from this community will be briefly outlined below. Or at least what info I was able to obtain before I finally pissed off my friend enough to warrant a a departure.

--I doubt the inter-mountain links will work bc it's a bullshit, small-time paper that thinks they can charge for a membership but the plaintiff's name is Phil Hudok you should be able to find relevant info while I dig around for decent links.
