Some countries still take care of their people. Got to wonder what come next. There has been a lot of talk about dirty bombs in recent months Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68943958 Yep, and this is their best defense?!? Maybe they should consider getting down from the top of the liberal mountain and stopping the flood of terrorists. I mean, why treat the symptom instead of the cause? |

The head of Belgium’s French-speaking Green party, Jean-Marc Nollet, backed the measures but added that “just because everyone will get these pills doesn’t mean there is no longer any nuclear risk,” La Libre reported. Belgium’s creaking nuclear plants have been causing safety concerns for some time after a series of problems ranging from leaks to cracks and an unsolved sabotage incident. Last week Germany asked that the 40-year-old Tihange 2 and Doel 3 reactors be turned off “until the resolution of outstanding security issues”. [link to kaleinar.com] |

Uh oh Iodine pills last a good while, but they do have expiration dates. Distributing a perishable item you only need in case of emergency certainly suggest they believe a significant event may happen soon. "God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787 |

Nice of them to do that. After Fukushima the US government sucked up all those pills from stores so we couldn't buy them over the counter anymore. Never did find out where they all went... bunkers prolly. |

Only visited Belgium once, didn't like the place at all..! not a good vibe there, compared to France & Holland. I was stopped by armed cops outside the railway station, cos they mistook me for an Irish terra ist. Checked via interpol.. ha! but they let me go, gave my UK passport back to me. Must've been the very long hair I had at the time, just got back from Berlin Wall concert in july '90. Silly Belgians! I swore I'd never go back to Belgium ever again after that. |
