This could be DOOM!

Sometimes when these sun-diving Comets hit, they produce gigantic explosions on the opposite side of the Sun.

Many times the magnitude of the size of the impacting object.

I'll be watching for the impact, holding my breath, clutching my Pet Chicken, and waiting for DOOM.

Do a search, there are many comets that have been caught hitting the sun, what makes you think this is any different? what makes you think this comet is hitting the sun? just becasue it is seen near it doesn't mean it will hit it, it may be on course to go around the sun to carry on its path.
Considering the gravity of the Sun draws comets towards it, how many times do you think a comet has hit the sun?

THIS IS NOT HUGE

A popular misconception is that sungrazing comets cause solar flares and CMEs (coronal mass ejections).

While it is true that we have observed bright comets approach the Sun immediately before CME's/flares, there is absolutely no connection between the two events.

The sungrazer comets -- in fact all comets -- are completely insignificant in size compared the Sun.

Even the brightest Kreutz comets observed by LASCO are believed to be no more than tens of meters in diameter (compared to the diameter of the Sun, which is roughly 1,390,000,000 meters!).

So have I. All we need is for the sun to blow off in our direction while she's protecting herself and Bamb!!!

It's been more than 2 hours now since any updates at Soho. I say we all just send some nice tea and crumpets to the Nasa/Goddard space flight center so they can better enjoy the images that they're keeping from us.

Perhaps a nice fruit basket?

if its a real comet it's huge and prob. is bigger than most planets
 Quoting: Woot?

That's what I was thinking, certainly appears to be the size of a medium planet.
 Quoting: Broken Cord

It's only a small comet. Not even bigger than ISON, and ISON wasn't even 5km. Surprised it's survived so well, almost looks like it has part of a head going in, but it will end up being ISONed.
Time is sealed.

These sungrazers/divers sometimes coincide with CMEs. I predict an eruption off the top right quadrant after impact.

This is but a minor little sun diver.
