Many times the magnitude of the size of the impacting object. I'll be watching for the impact, holding my breath, clutching my Pet Chicken, and waiting for DOOM. ! |

Considering the gravity of the Sun draws comets towards it, how many times do you think a comet has hit the sun? THIS IS NOT HUGE |

While it is true that we have observed bright comets approach the Sun immediately before CME's/flares, there is absolutely no connection between the two events. The sungrazer comets -- in fact all comets -- are completely insignificant in size compared the Sun. Even the brightest Kreutz comets observed by LASCO are believed to be no more than tens of meters in diameter (compared to the diameter of the Sun, which is roughly 1,390,000,000 meters!). " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I say Nay...Nayyyy! I've seen some of these sun-divers produce gargantuan explosions. !!! DOOM !!! |

All we need is for the sun to blow off in our direction while she's protecting herself and Bamb!!! It's been more than 2 hours now since any updates at Soho. I say we all just send some nice tea and crumpets to the Nasa/Goddard space flight center so they can better enjoy the images that they're keeping from us. Perhaps a nice fruit basket? |
