Got really pissed off at the grocery store today. Hispanics pay less at the grocery store for the same products with Hispanic lables. | |

Hispanics pay less at the grocery store for the same products with Hispanic lables. It's in all the stores by me too. But some products seem to be "watered down" or smaller. So maybe they actually pay more. I learned at a young age to follow poor immigrants for the best deals. One was slightly smaller but when you compare ounce to ounce, the English labeled products were less all the way around. They might be better deals, but I won't support a company that does this. Watered down, or slight difference in ingredients, aside. I could see if it were made by a different company but they're not. Besides most products are not what they used to be, mainly manufacturers trying to save money. Rember double rolls of toilet tissue and how now the "double rolls" are the size the regular rolls were years ago. |

Pro tip: Start making your own laundry detergent and stop being a rube. Baking soda/Borax/ essential oil of your choice/ shaved natural soap bar/ hot water. I make 5 gallons for like $3 Also, Commercial deodorant is expensive poison: Baking soda/Corn starch/ Coconut oil/ Tea Tree Oil. Works like a charm. |

Hispanics pay less at the grocery store for the same products with Hispanic lables. I was at the store earlier and was buying fabric softener. Now it just happened to catch my eye there are the same products on the side positioned so they don't just stand out with hispanic labeling and it is considerably less expensive. Sadly my photo editing skills on a phone are not up to par. But the Gain softener with a Hispanic lable costs 4¢ an ounce. Gain with an English lable is 10¢ an ounce. Downy with a Hispanic liable is 12¢ an ounce compared to 14¢ an ounce, not a big difference but still a difference. Granted the bottles contain different amounts, but if you comapre the cost per ounce you see it. I didn't think to look at Tide until a while after I left the store, but I am sure there is a difference there as well. So P&G is catering to the Hispanic population? Why should they pay less for basically the same product. Granted I do not know Spanish, so I could not compare the ingredients, but I would guess they are identical products. Same consistency and same smell. I will not purchase any more P&G products. Please share this so others don't get ripped off too. Most wouldn't catch this. Might have to enlarge the pics to see the store tags and labels better. Things like this burn me up. I believe it is also the same in the coffee and cocoa sections by Nestles. I am definitely going to be much more aware of things. Typically the ingredients are slightly different with Mexican brands, some are irritants so you will need to see what you can handle, others won't clean as well...watered down. If really want to save money shop Mexican markets for your fruit veggies (on Wednesday)and meats (Thursday), other items tend to cost more if they are American brands. |

Self identify as a Hispanic in the grocery store from now on..really though if the Spanish products have less of the content makes sense that they would cost less. |

Charge the same thing for everyone. I bought generic. I was actually looking at what was on sale as sometimes the sale price is better than the generic price. That is how I noticed it. I just won't buy their brands anymore on the principle of the unfairness in pricing. The other thing that pisses me off is that this is America so they can buy American products. Another example of how this country and the corporations are catering way too much to immigrants and disregarding Americans. |

Ever notice how many Hispanics work in social services ? Yup , their STG or for you gringos that means stratigic threat group. Yeah , gang . You might say , oh hell no they are old . Ha , you make me laugh, yeah . So when the homies hit the states , no matter where it is , its head of the line to get your tax money in the way of sec 8 housing , food stamps , free bomba phones , clothes and head of the line to get money from charitable agencies , churches and soooooo much more. Even the police hook the homies ma mas up with victems assistance funds and ssd ssi etc... so you white people try to get the same services you will be burried in paperwork. Yet when a Hispanic comes in , the paperwork is done for them and they go to the front of the line. Silly gringos |

All your digital history will be available to them and they will charge you what they think you should pay. Like someone above suggested. You don’t have to pay for the english language version. If you think the products are equal and the spanish version is cheaper, buy it. :) |

Not to detract from your point, cause I agree with it, but I can go to my local store and pay more than a dollar more for the same product on the other side of town in the same grocery store chain. It's about demographics. My store is full of organic and higher end products that the other store doesn't even carry conversely if I want to buy a lunch able at my store they are more than a dollar higher than at the other store. If you look in the Asian food isle you'll find some products are half the cost of their traditionaly sourced counterparts. Maybe I'm missing something g here but I don't really see what you are posting about as abnormal. |

Pretty much. Around here the Ukranians and Hispanics get Habitat homes. I used to work part time in a grocery store. They have 4 or 5 anchor babies, pay for food with WIC and foodspamps, daddy then pulls out a wad of hundred dollar bills to pay for the beer and cigs. Go to the customer service counted and send Western Union back to whichever country they came from. I do get out plenty. Stores with more competition within a certain radius charge less than a store with no competition. America and large corporations are catering to immigrants. All of them, but years ago they started putting everything in Spanish and English on many products. They came here, they need to learn the language and adapt. We should not be adapting to please them. Again, this is not about the store, this is about the corporations and manufacturers of products. And they are the ones affecting the pricing on their products. There is a formula that retail uses to calculate the retail price according to what the mfg is charging them. This is coming from the manufacturers, not the store chains. Last Edited by The Empress on 05/16/2016 09:06 PM |

Those who buy the premium brands have more money than sense, and marketers know it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71285365 there's some products like food that disgusting and even uneatable that generic. I tried generic paper towels, foodlion brand here in the south. it was like thin newspapers. There's plenty of name brands that are cheaper, doesn't have to be generic. Angel Soft toilet paper seems so cheap for how similar it is to the even higher brands, I can't remember the name but one that my grandma gets is so dman expensive I cant believe it. 12 pack is like $17 lol. “One life is all we have and we live it as we believe in living it.
