If you had a basline 30 basketball courts long to represent the distance from the north pole to the south pole, you'd need the ceiling of your court to be over 85,000 feet high (that's about 16 miles!) to accurately model the distance to the moon.

Let's see you photograph different sides at that distance.

On the other hand, in the flat earth model the moon is only a few thousand miles above the earth, so if it's a sphere you should be able to photograph different sides, and if it's a flat disc, it should show serious foreshortening from distant locations.

Why do you not get a pattern for a astrolabe (planisphere) and measure how far away it really is, this is how they charted the stars yes even the sphere people used it.

It uses math which is not new all the math is very old. The only new kind is guess me math in physics. You can make your Own even out of paper. This is the way they made maps and if you start to look at some of the pictures and many place you will see the astrolabe. The picture or movie where the woman was supposed to be answering a message and they put her in a thing that went round and round like joined blade then she landed on a beach, this also was like some astrolabes the Washington monument is a astrolabe, The ground at the Vatican is an astrolabe design the Washington monument is the dial some with the Vatican.

Look at the markings they astrolabe also were the sky times, and the latitudes and longitudes of an area,, it could be a time they mark of it both a sun dial and partly astrolabe but I have found them on many, many maps even on the round globe ones.

Sky charts are all the heavenly bodies and their position at the time of year and where they would be say next year.

When they measured it was geometry. Make a triangle and the point is the place to measure, or the linear on where the triangle is laying down, and distance to the point.

Hi Hankie - I'm guessing English isn't your first language, but thank you for mentioning astrolabes.

Yes, it's easy to make an astrolabe, or even simpler measuring devices, of the sort people used for navigation a few thousand years ago. If you do make them, and try using them, you'll quickly work out that the earth is spherical, not flat, and that the sun, moon and stars are all very far away.

The people who first figured it out, sometime around 3,000 to 4,000 years ago were traders, explorers, fishermen, who had to be able to navigate when out at sea, out of sight of land. They weren't some sort of "conspiracy" to confuse people about the shape of the earth - they needed to be able to navigate accurately, otherwise they could be lost at sea and die!

I have no idea why so many people are jumping on the flat earth bandwagon, but they must either be trolling, or unable to grasp the simple, and easily reproducible, evidence that they're wrong. The observations are easy, the mathematics is easy, and if people 3,000 years ago could figure it out, why are people today so unwilling to even try?

I can only assume they think it's "cool" to join the flat earth team, but to the rest of us they just look like idiots.
