I was disappointed that the video had the year
incorrect--the Christmas Gamma Ray Burst was
actually 2009 and caused the Christmas Quake and
tsunami which killed over 240,000 people in Sumatra.
(but NASA doesn't want us to think about THAT!)

Also...they do not mention the 9,500 b.c. Vela Super Nova
event which was actually caused by the one-two-punch
of a galactic super wave as a catalyst for a red giant
going supernova (Vela.)

IMO just issued a statement.
Around 50 quakes have been measured in Katla today and activoty started to increase around noon. This is the biggest swarm in Katla this year and frankly since 2011.
Conductivity in Múlakvísl is 190uS which is abnormally high during this time of the year.

Just noticed the activity within the Katla caldera today.

This might be hydrothermal earthquakes responding to some changes at depth, making them shallow for that reason. However this earthquake swarm has been going on for more then 12 hours and shows no signs of stopping, once the hydrothermal areas have boiled something else is going to happen. What that is I don’t know yet.

Southern California Issues Advisory for Major Earthquake This Week:

The California Office of Emergency Services has issued an earthquake advisory for Southern California. Alerting several counties that the probability of a major earthquake is more likely this week.

The earthquake advisory is in effect for the following counties: Ventura, San Diego, San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, Los Angeles, Kern and Imperial.

The advisory was issued following a series of small magnitude earthquakes near Bombay Beach, Salton Sea.

BREAKING CIVIL PROTECTION UNCERTAINTY PHASE DECLARED

The National Commissioner of Police and the District Commissioner of Police in South Iceland have declared a Civil Protection Uncertainty phase due to seismic unrest in Katla volcano in Mýrdalsjökull. The contingency plan for an eruption in Mýrdalsjökull has been activated accordingly. Uncertainty phase means that a course of events has started that may lead to natural hazard in the near future. Monitoring, assessment, research and evaluation of the situation is increased.
Increased seismic activity started on September 29 and is still ongoing. Following a meeting with the Scientific Advisory Board of the Icelandic Civil Protection it is likely that the seismic activity is caused by magma movement within the Katla caldera. Three most likely scenarios have been defined.
1 Seismic activity dies out with no further consequences
2. Glacial outburst flood, jökulhlaup, will emerge from the glacier due to a small eruption or emptying of cauldrons
3. Eruption starts in Katla Myrdalsjökull that will force its way through the 400 meter thick ice with glacial outburst floods and ash fall
Accordingly a warning has been issued for travelers in the vicinity of Mýrdalsjökull Especially around glacial rivers.

"Mexico's Colima Volcano increased its activity on Friday, forcing the evacuation of several nearby communities.

Colima's state government ordered the evacuation of La Becerrera and La Yerbabuena, while the state of Jalisco evacuated the town of Juan Barragan.
Earlier on Friday, authorities said the activity posed a threat to population, so they extended their exclusion area to a distance of 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) from the volcano's crater."
