***I'm dealing with way too much crap right now so if you plan on just being an obnoxious troll or trash talker then know that this thread WILL BE MODERATED and your comment removed.***

Below are some excerpts from a blog post I wrote entitled, "On Being a Christian Who Is Too Far Gone For Salvation". The full article is a little TL;DR but for those who genuinely wish to help or offer some prayers or encouragement it can be found here: [link to daysdescending.wordpress.com (secure)]

"I was raised a Christian and all throughout my life that faith has played an important role. I recall simpler times; attending Sunday School, memorizing and reciting Psalm 23, being nervous about being immersed in the baptismal font, how proud I was when my Dad bought me my first Bible, singing along to praise and worship songs with my mom in the car as we’d drive around doing errands and such..."

"...I always wanted to believe. I wanted to go down to the altar and pour out all my fear and sorrow and pain to the foot of the Cross and have Jesus reach down and put his hand on my shoulder and fill me with some glorious Holy Spirit that would bring me that peace which passes all understanding. Sadly, He never did. So I spent the majority of my adolescent years trying to figure out what could’ve possibly separated me from His love and His mercy. Where was He when I needed Him the most? I always heard that verse from Romans 10:13 that says, “Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”, but where was my salvation? Why was I still dead inside?..."

"...I cannot go full fledged Atheist because there have been too many instances in my life where God has made Himself completely undeniable to me. But if there is a God, I am almost convinced that He wants nothing to do with me. I feel like a truly lost soul. Tonight, I prayed, while crying in the car, that if God forgives me for my many sins and if I’m truly not beyond salvation or beyond repair; then please let Him make Himself known to me. I just want to be a good son for my mom as she fights colon cancer; a good big brother for my brother Conor who is coping with his fathers loss of visitation rights; I want to be a good friend to all of the many people who have stood by my side through so much despite the fact I rarely make time for them to return the favor; I want to be a good neighbor to the strangers that cross my path instead of being selfish and self-absorbed.

I don’t know if it’s too late for me but I hope that maybe there might be some of you who know this same struggle and perhaps you have found the answers I’m still grasping in the dark trying to find. It seems funny that when the whole world is growing more and more hateful towards Christians that I’d be down at the end of my rope trying to find just a mustard seed sized portion of faith to help me make it through this life. It’s do or die time. Maybe death would be better? Not physically, but dying to everything I thought I knew."

Sometimes we here to many testimonies of Gods power on others and wonder why not me? My advice is to love your neighbors and be a good son. Do these things, read the bible out of devotion. Expect nothing in return. Then wait upon the ?Lord. You will find hHim in the stillness of peace.

Yes, if you've reached that portion of your journey, you need to "die" to it. Challenge your beliefs, question what you know and don't know. If you had the faith of a child (believing without question), this would be unnecessary. But some of us have to be our own adversary and challenge our own faiths, essentially die to be born anew. I'm here. For me it's a struggle because I am extremely stubborn and strong willed when I choose to be. Right now I choose to linger in death. I hope your journey is shorter, sweeter and your new life and faith victorious. Be well.

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. I too have gone through extended periods when I cried for God to change my life. Even in good times I have prayed to God that one thing or another be done or a path opened to me. There is a joke that says, You know how to make God laugh? Tell him your plans. For me this says a lot. The times that I felt God was not forthcoming in showing me what path to take have been, in retrospect, times when I really wasn't trying to follow His plans, but instead my own.

God is a Father to the saved and a Father doesn't always do what the child thinks is best. Don't lose faith. Work on becoming a person that will be pleasing to God in all your actions and thoughts. Thoughts... those are the tough ones. Be the best person you can be and be a better person tomorrow. Rejoice in your salvation and relax. Recognize that you don't have to understand what life has in store and find comfort in the fact that Father God knows all and has a plan for you.

Do not despair, friend. You express remorse, so you have a sense of sin, which many do not these days. The only unforgivable sin is that of final Impenitence (see below). Get yourself to a priest or minister to help you sort things out.

Read the whole article at the link, if you can.

Final Impenitence
When someone thinks of sinning specifically against the Holy Spirit, the one, unforgivable sin most often comes to mind.
Jesus says, “Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin” (Mark 3:28-30).
What is this one, unforgivable sin? What does it mean to blaspheme against the Third Member of the Trinity?
The answer is final impenitence.
This occurs when someone just refuses to accept forgiveness and mercy for the sins they have committed. The person is unwilling to allow the Holy Spirit to free them from the bondage of their sin.
Most often, it seems, this type of person believes she is unworthy to be forgiven.

It is easy to see how this applies to abortion.
I have read of mothers who have obtained abortions and have refused to see a priest or a minister. On their deathbed, they express their regret over choosing to put their own children to death.
They know, in their heart, it violates their natural order as women.  They think they must pay for what they did… in the next lifetime. God, have mercy on such folks

No one is promised a bed of roses in this place. It is the valley of the shadow of death is it not?

There is wisdom and truth in the word of God to carry one through to the promise. But we must belive the wisdom to act on it, and understand the truths to find the rest in this place that Christ provides.

Lace up the bootstraps and keep walking tall like a child of the Living God.

Commanding the evil spirits back to the abyss in Christs name may be a great place to start.

Do not give up, continually pray to Father for deliverance from sin, I believe when once I did not, I hit rock bottom. I replaced all I loved with a substance and when I looked around and saw I was alone it terrified me. I was not where I wanted to be, and still have much work to do. I was terrified of the hollow alone feeling, of watching every her with someone else, because it was for me to see I was wrong. I urge everyone to quit drugs cold turkey and turn back to God, forgive yourselves through Jesus Christ, and be prepared to be humbled.

God is real. God is the most high. I trust and have faith in His plan.

When I was 17,18 I guess I felt the same way. So anyways based on my experience it was me moving away from the Lord Jesus but I didn't realize it. I pray for forgiveness because my lifestyle and choices were sinful and I was doing what I want in life. Then I soon started to read the bible. Then I was guided to have faith in the Lord Jesus kinda like to grow a seed of faith with the Lord. I remember going to church and they talking about if your faith is as small as a sesame seed the Lord will respond to your prayers. Then I was guided to grow that faith. After years of chasing the Lord to see if it was real after five years it feels real and it has change my life. It wasn't Jesus not wanting nothing to do with me but it was me doing it. So I was lost but now I've been found by Jesus Christ. This is my experience and I hope you do well on your journey looking for what you want in life with Jesus.hf

It is not always that we get an answer. That does not mean we stop our prayers and our love of God.
Both Job and Saul experienced this- for completely different reasons.

Our service to God should not merely be dependent on his serving us.

It is as simple as this. We love God and we serve him.

Note that when Jesus healed the lame man, he did not coddle him. He did not say "wow, that must have been pretty rough!" or "poor fellow"
He just said "pick up your bed and walk"

He took two shots with the blind guy, by the way. A lot of people miss that.

Check out the Abominable Snowman on you tube. One foot in front of the other. Good vid. Good advice.

OP I too felt this way at one time until I received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. This is what you need, than Jesus The Holy Spirit will come alive to you. Find you an assembly of God church or a Pentecostal church and you will see a big difference. You are saved but after you receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit the Bible God Jesus comes alive to you. I hope you do this OP you will never regret it.

Re: If you consider yourself a Christian, please read this thread. I need some serious guidance.
I don't have all your answers, but can offer some thoughts perhaps. First, NO ONE is too far gone or has sinned too much for salvation. Jesus died for your sins too. There are murderers, satanists, and all manner of people with evil actions in their past that have found salvation through Christ.
Paul struggled with doing sinful things that he did not want to do, yet relied on Christ's forgiveness. Paul was also a former murderer of Christians. The apostle Peter struggled with lack of faith at times, and even denied Christ. King David had a close relationship with God but fell into sin and had a man murdered. Elijah wanted to die because he was afraid of Jezebel. These are but a few examples of flawed men that God used in a mighty way.
Do you believe in Him? And that He is God's son? Have you sincerely asked for forgiveness of your sins? Do you have faith that Jesus paid the price for you and will forgive those sins? If so, you have salvation. Not everyone has an emotional experience when saved. No fire of the Holy Spirit carrying them away, no peaceful doves descending, etc. It is an individual thing, and you may feel nothing out of the ordinary, but I would think you should experience some relief and peace at the least.
I get the sense you are teetering on the fence though. You want to give it all to Him, but perhaps something is holding you back? You say you've experienced His hand or presence working several times in your life, yet you still question? God is looking for your faith! Even when you don't hear from Him, or feel Him, or see Him working. Believe and be steadfast...remain true to Him in your faith.
Now is the time to choose who you will serve, draw your line in the sand, and stay firm. Days are coming when we will have nothing to rely on other than God and you will need strong faith in Him to see you through.
The word of God is living. Make it a part of your everyday life. Do activities that will help build your faith; stay away from those that tear it down.
Throw out any visions of an "ideal Christian" you think you need to be. Go to God as you are, and always honestly. He takes us in, and as we develope a relationship with Him, over time He lovingly molds us into His likeness. Put your heart into it.

it's the exchange program -- our sins were exchanged for Christ's righteousness on the cross

we have full assurance of faith -- He will in no way lose any of us.

in His Fathers house are many mansions -- if it were not true He would have told us.

John 17 is Jesus powerful prayer of intercession. a good read.

#1 Do you believe God exists?

#2 If you believe that God exists, do you believe that He can tell you exactly what you need to hear and do?

#3 If you can believe #1 and #2, then simply do this:

Go someplace alone. Pray. Ask SPECIFICALLY what you want to know. Be PREPARED to believe EVERYTHING shown to you and to DO everything asked of you. BELIEVE that it is the VERY VOICE OF GOD SPEAKING TO YOU.

Then open a Bible at ANY point in the Scriptures. Give yourself time to read EVERYTHING on the two pages facing you. Then, go back one page and read that. Then go forward one page and read that. Within the context of those pages, God will speak to you and ask you to do something. Only YOU will know what it is. What you ask for in secret, will be openly rewarded to you--and the assurance you seek will be within arm's reach. You have to BELIEVE and you have to DO. The blessing will be immesurable.
The TRUTH is stranger than FICTION.

There's a lot of things coming at you at once.

When this happens.

Remember

What's in your control

What's not in your control

What you can you influence

What can't you influence

What can you do

What can't you do

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

What heals my soul daily is this. When you're alone. Listen to good instrumentals, without lyrics, that you personally enjoy. Now as you do this, don't just think about God, but love God during this. In your heart, with sincerity, just love God.

It will help recharge you. It'll help you to feel his prescense. It'll help you feel his love. You'll likely receive guidance about what you can do, what is in your control, and things to let go and let God deal with it.

Re: If you consider yourself a Christian, please read this thread. I need some serious guidance.
You must dwell in the Word and accept it as truth and daily put what you learn into practice. From birth, you and every person on this rock have been taught how to live in a way that is contrary to what is required. Thus relying upon what you think you know, or what others have to say is suicidal. John the Baptist detailed what is needed in one sentence, in the book of John. "He must increase but I must decrease". The Word must replace "I". It is not what I think that matters but what the Word says. The Word must become flesh in you and the old man, that born of the flesh, must die. For I came not to do mine own will, but the will of Him who sent me.

A man reaps what he sows and he can sow to the flesh, the "I", or he can sow to the Spirit, obeying the Word. Sowing to the flesh brings death. Sowing to the Spirit brings life and peace. You do your own sowing every day, with every thought you entertain, every word you speak, and everything that you do. You are, like everyone else, a creature of habit. That habit needs to be changed so that your natural inclination is to live a holy and godly life, which is a requirement of being in the presence of the Most High.

Thoughts become words, words become deeds, deeds become habits, and habits become character. Read the Word and practice it intently. Today is not supposed to happen to you. Rather, each moment is an opportunity to sow, to the intent that you will later reap. You give to those in need because you understand and truly believe that he who gives to the poor, lends to the Lord and He will repay. You could send them away empty handed but the fruit of that seed is you being sent away empty handed when in need. That is how the system works. It is making lemonade out of lemons, turning what was meant for evil into good. The natural, fleshly instinct is to do just the opposite, which is incompatible with heaven, but fully compatible with hell.
