Took that day off of work (yes, a Tuesday) and my mom called me about 8:30 a.m. Eastern and woke me up to the nightmare. Missed the first tower get hit but saw the rest of it.

Saw that weird ass footage of Bush at the school reading My Pet Goat to the class and that vacant look on his face when his people whispered in his ear what had happened.

I fucking knew the world was going to be ruined after that day. I KNEW IT!

A simple phrase (in school; working full-time; being a bum; raising a new-born; etc.) will suffice.

Nope, but my indoor cat was acting bizzare, wailing aloud like it was in distress the entire morning when it happened.

It's always made me a bit angry to remember that call. I was deeply asleep and fumbled for the phone. I didn't believe them. I didn't believe it when I saw it on TV. Everything seemed so fake. I was watching the today show with Matt Lauer and Katie Couric. In that moment, I thought they were acting. I remember it was the first day I ever saw Ashleigh Banfield. She was walking fast down a street, reporting on the first responders. Every time I see her on CNN now, it flashes me back to that day. It's strange, because I find her very trustworthy and calming, no matter the story she is reporting. But I kind of STILL do not like her, which makes no sense.

Hmmm...maybe around 5 other people. All of us were already 'awake' prior to 9/11. I don't recall anyone believing the USA was under any kind of attack from outside forces. These were not your average people. We were (and are) all renegades from 'normal' society, living on the beach and homeless by choice rather than circumstance.

I was asleep. I lived in Central time zone. My parents called and woke me up to tell me a plane hit the building. I put the news on TV then went back to bed. Then the 2nd one hit. I went to work like any other day. I remember jets flying really low over my city.

Yes. I worked a mid shift and my ex called and woke me to tell me about it around 730am west coast time.

nope was in transit in my car. spent the day trying to follow news on multiple internet forums.

I woke up in Alaska and took a shower. As I was getting ready for work I turned on Today (NBC). I watched the second plane hit the second tower.

I had just awakened from a nice 8 hour sleep.

I was drinking a cup of coffee as I turned on the TV and saw the shit storm that was underway.

I woke up earlier than usual. I usually got up around 11AM. I turned on the TV after taking a piss and drinking some water, and the plane had apparently hit the moment I actually awoke since it was breaking news "just a few moments ago"...

I was in a hospital with my wife and new born son. Having to send him to the IC (premature baby) unit while all this was happening was an unreal day for our family.

Sept 11 was quite a day for us.
