Prophesy of Malachy,The lightning strike on 2/11/2013,Expanded Petrine Office?

"Rome, Italy, Jun 25, 2016 / 06:02 am (CNA/EWTN News).- What is Benedict XVI's own view of his historical resignation? What has the fall-out been from his secretary Archbishop Georg Gänswein's controversial remark on an “expanded petrine office”? What about the “Prophesy of Malachy,” which allegedly sees Francis as the last pontiff?"

No matter your views, its a fascinating read.

If the outcome of the just ending Pan-orthodox Synod results in the Roman Catholic Church reunification with the Eastern Orthodox Churches the office of Pope as such may have to give way to a new title and disavowal of supreme power over all churches. Thus the last Pope. See thread: Thread: New War in Ukraine: After the Pan-Eastern Orthodox Synod failed, where are we

Perhaps. The scenario you reference is interesting. But, I am thinking more on the lines of more compromises of the Christian Faith in favor of "earthly power". If the unity with Eastern Orthodox churches does not happen, I am thinking that Islam and Roman Catholicism will some how reach further agreements.
