TV and stuff; another thought from an empty head!
Good evening.

I was talking to myself again as noted by a neighbor! And I thought that what drives star power is a superimposed sense of self; in that I saw that movie or bought that item and that’s how I wish to be branded or perceived of as myself.

As an item perceived as exclusive or a product that is prestigious or overly valuable.

So people flock to branded products as way to effective brand themselves and their sense of identity or how they wish to be perceived. In that I bought Reeboks or visited a prestigious department store or my parents bought me an Intel computer. (Thanks that kid from High school!)

So here is the point of my thread… What about TV programs?

What if rather than charging for product placement; TV programs subsumed the emotions and sense of identity people associate with products to make a TV show more popular.

Like Coco Cola!

People associate positive memories of their childhood (Via Spiders) or getting lit up by drinking rum and cola as an adolescent and think happy thoughts. (Like the first time they were inebriated!)

What if TV shows increased their popularity through positive suggestion through mental cues people have of consuming products they associate with generally joyful emotions.

This would make TV shows more popular through the use of positive emotional reinforcement.

Rather than pay for product placement; use products to promote a TV show through brand recognition of products!

What do people think?
