I work in a hospital. It is tough staffing wise. They have reduced professional nursing staff and brought in minimum wage assistants to help us and usually they suck and make more work for the nurse.

They hired a new aide to work my shift.A 20 year old black girl and due to her age and lack of experience I wasn't expecting much but to feel like I was working alone and shit bricks.

Well it was just me and her last night with a whole hallway of patients and she was awesome. Smart, hardworking, a critical thinker, conscientious, good with the patients etc, I was seriously impressed. It is like she was born to be a nurse. She just picked it up so quickly. She told me she has three jobs and was just starting nursing school too.

I just got done emailing my director to praise this girl. She was better than a lot of my experienced assistants despite being brand new.
