I remember a old black woman that was crippled and used to see her hobbling down the side of the road on her way to church every Sunday. Hell, I don't remember how far it was, since I was a kid, but it was a LONG way!

My parents never stopped to pick her up once. I was embarrassed by that.

Now disabled people ride around on scooters.
