The party - a 'black power' movement - want to carry guns for self-defense during demonstrations outside the convention in Cleveland, Ohio, next week. Several Republican-leaning groups, as well as some supporters of the GOP presumptive candidate Donald Trump, want to come armed to the convention. But security officials are likely to be nervous about allowing politically opposed groups to carry guns in such close proximity to each other, especially in the wake of the massacre of five police officers in Dallas, recent shootings of black men by white police officers, and protests over police brutality.
