The equation is much more complex than this since *arbitrary* creations will likely do us more harm than good. It's a symbiotic alliance/relationship of the highest order we are describing here, so that the *creation* process cannot succeed as an arbitrary collection of wants and needs.

Of interest to this discussion is Michelangelo's definition of how his own creative process worked. he speaks of *releasing* the form from the marble itself rather than attacking the stone from without - all blunted mind and chisel set completely aside in lieu of that most perfect and sublime emergence. If we want to define *the problem* or *the process* in some way, we must be careful to define it wholistically or it will fail us miserably, leaving only mangled shards where there once existed a timeless masterpiece of expression we would then have some reason to call *divine*.
