The American people did NOT want to enter WW2. The majority of the population didn't want to go to war. The memory of the first WW was still fresh in their minds.
But TPTB set up the circumstances to make it so that it seemed the US HAD to go to war. They allowed, even encouraged Pearl Harbor to happen. The sacrifice of the American men and women that died that day was a sacrifice that TPTB felt was worth the billions of $ the bankers would make funding the wars and the final outcome of the wars.
Most people don't want war. But the Government doesn't give a shit what most people want. The Government does what TPTB tell them to do.
9-11 was a similar event to Pearl Harbor. TPTB allowed - encouraged it to happen and the Americans that died that day were sacrificed to the end game agenda.

As far as the hippies and the war was concerned, they actually played a big part in ending that bullshit war for profit, and I was on the other side. From the time I was in second grade until I was a junior in high school I was certain that this dirty damn war would ramp up and that as it paralleled my own life, it would one day drag me into it. I never bought into their fucked up "domino" theory lie and in order to avoid becoming cannon fodder for the armament industry, I pursued a course that would not only buy me four more years, but allowed me to enter the army on a much better level than a bullet stopper. I have never had much use for the hippie movement, but my hat is always raised to them for what they did to stop what JFK himself could not.

Any of us who grew up in the 50's and 60's were able to witness, out in the open, the covert war and actions of the USA and USSR. Many of my classmates went into the covert ops field and I assure you that the denial of the dirty deeds that the alphabet agencies were famous for were not so heavily denied nor covered up as they are today. Perhaps that is because they have gotten far dirtier and much more uncontrolled. In fact, it is probably they who control the government these days and NOT the other way around. Oh well, corruption has a way of degrading things you know, and denial is NOT a river that flows through Egypt. They may find it easy to fool the young folk, but they cannot fool we who watched and paid close attention to their treacheries.

There is the theory that the whole anti-war/hippie thing was a concoction designed to make the anti-war stance repugnant to the "regular" folk in order to weaken it. The fact that so many of the rock stars in LA and SF, none of which got drafted, btw, came from families with military/intel backgrounds sure is interesting. Too many to be a coincidence, especially as Laural Canyon in LA was a major hub for the musicians and actors, as well as that military film studio.
