I think this happens to every generation at about late twenties, early thirties. That is for those who get politically involved.

That really is the only evolutionary path for a political activist (except buying in so much to a system that you become an active player) that is to tire and resolve yourself of the entire scenario caused by experience and new found cynicism for the American political system.

I worked phone banks for a political campaign in the nineties. Went to a delegate convention, I wanted to follow my vote as far as I could, young idealistic, so on.

I got involved enough and active enough (reading, researching, networking, etc) to see how it is all bullshit. Nobody is doing anything to solve a problem. Their only goal, from day one, is to get re-elected, make sure their name is attached to anything newsworthy, and creating the image they care about everyone and everything at all times.

Eastasia, Eurasia, and all that, it is all B.S, and theater and absolutely pointless to be involved in.

They are just at the age where you figure it out.

but trump isnt a career politician nor a republican so actually this is the first election in a while were people have a choice

Yes, but people see Trump as big money so the instant aversion and association with big money, old money, elitism, the insiders, etc.

Whether he is our isn't that is what people see and so money becomes a similarity between Clinton and Trump.
