Me, too. Deepwater Horizon and Ukraine were two others, although I guess Ukraine is still ongoing, and DH was localized, although it could've completely destroyed my favorite vacation spot. The Norks almost got me a few times, but the doom wears off pretty quickly there.

I was a bit spooked when the rumor went out on GLP that military dependents were being readied for evac from coastal areas. I was thinking asteroid strike. Turned out to be bogus.

Ebola was a serious concern. Few of you know the fedguv DID start quarantining people after they saw that it was hurting them in Congressional elections. I had a vendor who was quarantined for three weeks after visiting a friend in Dallas. This was totally blacked out of the MSM and there was very little on the internet.

I know this.....

Epidemics have happened before. They will happen again.

Wars have happened before. They will happen again.

Ditto financial crises, government coups, volcanoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, etc, etc.

My estimate of most likely dooms include financial crisis, inflation, Orwellian gov control, new Ice Age (that prediction is TOTALLY safe as those are cyclical!), and pandemics.

I think WWIII is unlikely, but regional conflict is highly probable, e.g., China taking on Taiwan, Japan, and the Phillipines.

Prepare!

At the end of the Cold War, Russian archives were exposed.

We almost got nuked on several occasions. I think we came closest when Andropov wanted to launch a first strike in 1982. He was, luckily, voted down by the Politburo.

That one got jacked up beyond all recognition. Millions dead in the US, worldwide billions dead and laying on the streets in a pool of blood.

The grid going down and staying down across the US - this was about two years ago. I never believed it but some people in some threads wanted to create special compounds for people to run to. Good times.

Swine flu made me truly recognize the serious and reasonable threat that germs/viruses could be.

But man, Ebola. That is the one that really freaked me out the most. I really did the whole extra shopping and laying low and monitored the news (and GLP of course) constantly.

Long term doom, I'm not sure we can call that one off yet.

I still think we came close to a nuke war last Spring in 2015.

I thought ebola/swine flu/pandemic were imminent.

I thought Jade Helm/ 9/23 were going to change everything all at once.

I still think methane doom and fukushima doom are real.

but I do think I overestimate the end of everything at times, and can be too gullible as well.

Once, my coleslaw was HOT. Probably cabbage grown in CA. It only takes one, tiny radioactive particle of dust ingested to kill you.

Shortly after Fuku, I took my geiger counter to the supermarket. The tuna can display showed one rad per hour. Note that this could not be alpha or beta radiation since the metal can would stop those. It had to be gammas or neutrons.

BTW, you can purchase one at (IIRC) geigercounters.com for a reasonable price.

Shortly after Fuku, my vegetarian, health-nut, non-smoking neighbor died of lung cancer. Coincidence?
