So for 50 years now, they have been telling how it really is and we pass it on and view it as fiction!

Both terms are used. Some feel that Trekkie is derogatory but this is what the fans were called in the early years and also the term that Gene Roddenberry used himself.

I wish I was there. I have gone to a few Star Trek conventions. Met Uhura, Checkov, Sulu and saw Kirk. Nichelle Nichols was the most gracious and a very sweet lady. Walter Koenig was a conceded pig and that is being very kind to him. George Takei was a funny during his talk but otherwise not much there. William Shatner reminded me too much of my alcoholic jerk of a dad that it was hard even watching him on stage. He even was wearing the same leather jacket my dad wore during the same time - yeah they even looked a bit alike. Shatner thought too much of himself to even sign autographs!! He wouldn't have been where he was if it hadn't been for those fans!!!!

It was his eyes...sultry bedroom gaze and blue...the new Bones are the same, but green.

When I found out Karl Urban was playing my favorite ships Doctor, I was worried, I love Urtban, but Bones is special...he completely nailed the role. And he brought tears to Mr. Spocks eyes.

In A Mirror Darkly, some of the best Star Trek, old or new, big screen or small, ever made.

I met Nichelle at a Houston convention, she was incredible adorable and sweet. I met shatner in New Orkeans and thought the same thing you did. I think he was wearing the same leather jacket lol!
I was surprised to learn that sir Patrick Stewart was a bit of a meany to volunteers and fans. :(

Fun fact: there are asteroids named Mr. Spock, Nimoy, Enterprise, and Roddenberry, all inspired by star trek. There's also an asteroid named McCoy, but it's technically named after a natural history museum curator whose last name was McCoy. Still, it's nice to think that there are asteroids out there respectively named Spock and McCoy.

That is a really cool (does that show my age by using cool??) factoid!

Sorry to say, I had to look him up, shouldn't have needed to as I have all those books. Have over 200 star Trek books! I know, I know, total nerd

watching it from episode one now

In the mid '70's, TOS was in syndication M-F at 4 pm every day but I didn't get home from school until 4:10 pm. Watched every day, and for years I never knew what episode it was until after the first commercial break.

Fav episode: Mirror, Mirror

Fav Space Babe: Deela, Queen of the Scalosians

Fav Spock line: (asked for his opinion of Marta, the green skinned Orion Slave erotic dancer)

Spock: I find it mildly interesting, and somewhat nostalgic, if I understand the use of that word.

Capt. Garth: Nostalgic?

Spock: Yes, it is somewhat reminiscent of the dances Vulcan children do in nursery school. Of course, the children are not so well...coordinated.
