User ID: 72533560 United States 09/16/2016 10:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I just turned on the TV to news @ Fox 4 in Dallas: They are doing an update on a Police Shooting (2 shot) in south FW. One officer is critical but stable -- and the other one has minor injuries (the reporter thinks the officer w/ minor injuries may have been hit in his protective vest). Now there is another reporter saying it is now being told that the critical officer may be ranked as being "Serious", which is good news. There is supposedly a manhunt for the shooter but efforts are focused on a shed at back of property. They are now showing the area along I-20 @ Granbury Road exit (this road is just east of Hulen Mall in south-central Ft Worth... you can see that the freeway is very backed up and many cruisers with flashing lights are lined up along the access road (and there are homes right along the freeway in that section) so this is happening right along the Interstate there. I'm guessing that portion of the Interstate is likely closed both directions since there could be more shooting take place. I do not really know the background to this story so if others do know please fill us in. |

One of the injured was a field training officer and didn't catch what they said about the other one. Now they are saying one officer has been reported by FWPD as being CRITICAL so ?? I think they said something about pictures on their facebook page but not certain? (I did spell check & added 1 slash). The original 911 call was in the 3800 block of Wharton Drive which actually runs west-east from Woodway Dr. on the west side to Westcreek about 5 blocks east (per Google Map). Woodway actually splits off of Trail Lake Drive Exit as you go southbound from the Interstate. Woodway Drive is a main thoroughfare going south to Altamesa Blvd and Trail Lake Drive is the next major street east of Granbury Road & it runs north-south; it crosses I-20 / Loop 820). |

User ID: 72533560 United States 09/16/2016 11:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Initial call was suicidal person ... 8:30 PM CDT was time of the dispatch. Ft Worth Police are saying there was definitely a report of a suicidal person in this home <per the original call. They have located a deceased person (male) in back bedroom of house... and the arriving officers thought (or were told by _______??? ) that a person hiding in shed was a witness to a shooting & officers went to interview what they thought was a witness to the shooting incident inside the house. As they opened the door to the shed, they were both hit with gunfire. This situation is not what was first reported ,,, not certain that this is a family relationship... and there was somebody shot inside home and they are not sure of the relationship between these individuals. The PD spokesperson is saying one officer is critical and that the 2nd officer was struck in his vest in area of chest. They are not releasing yet which officer is critical (one officer was training a probationary officer)... They do not know the status of the person that is in the shed. SWAT is trying to extricate that person from the shed but it is not known if the individual is still alive. There are questions from reporter and the Officer states again that the situation is that the person in the shed may have committed suicide ,,, People in that area are now hearing what sounds like gunshots now but it gas canisters being used by SWAT. Also, from what he's saying, it is now looking that the person deceased in the back bedroom ("the body") may have been a suicide -- this is still not clear to me. >> OK,, Reporter from FOX is clarifying -- > police officer doing news conference says that they now believe the deceased person in house died from a self-inflicted wound -- so ??? ------------------------------------- ETA: There was some discussion that went on with the reporters on scene during the news briefing and I heard the term "ELDERLY PERSON" used in regards to this event) Last Edited by Topaz on 09/16/2016 11:48 PM |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 72094526 United States 09/17/2016 12:29 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Crap, we just moved from Hulen Bend Estates...right there. We had a neighbor completely lose it when his wife left him. Locked himself in the house with a shotgun after calling his wife and threatening to kill her, the kids, then himself. When we first read where tonight's shooting happened we were worried it might have been him as the courts didn't exactly do much other than grant restraining orders against the guy. So sorry to see someone did die, but relieved it doesn't appear our former neighbor involved. Hopefully the officers recover quickly. I wonder if they have the same "neighborhood" officer we did. Our old one was awesome and a huge believer/very vocal "off the record" that every homeowner should have a gun and be trained and ready to use it. He said responsible gun ownership makes neighborhoods safer...Loved that neighborhood. |
