Internet may fail, I think, for a while, in the sense of an intended "pause" for certain (positive) things to be accomplished undercover, and in the sense of an even greater challenge - but simultaneously OPPORTUNITY - for people to revise their priorities and realize that worldwide, a change in behavior is necessary if we do not want to continue the path to self-destruction. Could be asteroids and solar flares. That could disturb communications and power grid
