Trumpkin was a dwarf in Prince Caspian. Too bad there's no way to carve that kind of thing into a pumpkin.

I am thinking of doing something "scenic/landscape" but trying to figure a "doom" angle in it too. kickin ideas around a bit more.

Holy shit, I finished. didn't think I would today...Have to go to work..will upload my pic and video late tonight. =-)

Dace, that is unfair. Some of us GLPer's ain't got such skills. Maybe there needs to be two types of competitions. One for professional artist and one for novices.

First, thanks for the compliment.

But in all reality, here so far it's been more than fair.

Last year, I did a portrait of my daughter and themed it to a vaccination smilie and I got third place.

The year before that, I got fourth place. So...while I may have a bit of carving talent, I have so far not won yet.

My carving tools are homemade...the 'poker' is just a straight sewing pin taped to the end of a paintbrush handle..lol...and the carving loops I use are thin strips of metal I cut from the lid of a can of soup, bent into circles and glued to the ends of other paint brush handles...I'll prob buy a wood carving kit and a couple of pottery hoops next year because the homemade ones are a pain in the ass. =-)

There are a lot of VERY creative people here!

Creativity, presentation, humor and theme goes a long way here and each year the competition has gotten better and better and I can't wait to see what everybody comes up with this time.

We have had simple ideas come in on the top and great ideas end up on the bottom.

I know there's lots of shit going on right now, but this is a great doombreak if nothing else.

There are 12 prizes to be won....at the moment you could just run over a pumpkin with your car, write GLP on it, take a picture, call it a flat-earth pumpkin and win 1st or 2nd place...or carve 'nibiru' into a mini-pumpkin and film a video of you smashing it into a globe.

I am having the same issue this year.

Going to the store tomorrow to pick out pumpkins and hoping the pumpkins inspire me. Got out my carving tools already and just can't wait to get away from all the doom with this election!

I do have a question. Can pictures be used to ADD to the actual pumpkin, like clarify it? The pumpkins will be carved and just a few extra pictures, kind of like Dace's but not exactly

Last year I did a portrait of my daughter for 'home' use...lol...but for GLP, I photoshopped syringes poking into the pumpkin for a 'vaccination' theme, made it into a smilie, added text, etc...

I remember that. I used paint last year
