If melanin could protect fungi from radiation, could consumption of mushrooms containing it protect humans and animals? Research published in 2012 found that melanin isolated from the fungus Gliocephalotrichum simplex and administered at a dose of 50mg/kg of body weight increased the 30-day survival of mice by 100%! Melanin up to a dose of 100mg/kg had no adverse effects.

Melanin may protect us from radiation! Do not take supplements like fish oil and melanin it does no good and causes health issues later in life. For instance my mom took fish oil for years and she got hardening of the arteries and her doctor made her stop taking them. He basically said fresh fish is safe from time to time, but overloading your body with fish oil is deadly.
