Muslim Legislator wants Minnesota men convicted of trying to join ISIS to get reduced sentences

Cliffs:

9 Minnesota Muslims were convicted (some plead guilty) for crimes related to trying to join ISIS.

The ringleader is facing a sentence of up to 40 years. The others are facing 3.5 years to 30 years, depending on their level of involvement.

Enter Ilhan Omar, a Somali-Muslim who was just elected as a Minnesota Legislator.

"Omar wrote that incarcerating the young men for decades would essentially be a life sentence. She said such stiff punishment would cause further alienation and create an environment in which extremism can flourish. Omar asked Davis to consider a restorative approach that focuses on inclusion and rehabilitation."

So the mentality is that if you punish Muslim extremists, you create Muslim extremists.

The "narrative" that we're always fed is that Muslims are peaceful and reject the extremists. But time after time that narrative is proven to be bullshit, just like it is in this situation. They don't cast out the terrorists from their midst, they circle the wagons around them.

Fuck that noise. That is exactly why Trump won the presidency, and why he almost won Minnesota - a state that not even Ronald Reagan could win in 1984.
