We had a couple feral friends who were the sweetest cats. They both were fiv positive. They were normally fine but would go through bouts of sickness getting weaker all the time until they finally succumbed to the insidious disease. My prayers go out to your little friends. They don't deserve to go out that way. Also, the disease is extremely contagious. Do not mix them with non fiv cats as the disease is spread through bodily fluids. And be sure to wash your hands after handling them and before handling your non fiv cats. Last Edited by brassbat on 11/14/2016 09:13 PM jjjjj |
BRIEF
User ID: 39607259 United States 11/14/2016 09:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well a feral cat that has come by for years, been a good friend, appears not to be feeling so well. I tried to adopt him, like I have for others, but the test showed he had fiv (sp?). Basically, his back legs, though he walks fine, seem to be aching? If you pick him up he growls, never did that before, and his left ear if you touch it he shakes his head. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73388990 I put mite solution in both ears, and have been giving him antibiotics now for the past two days, front loading the dose (double). I took a paper towel and sprayed it down with flea and mite solution and wiped it over his body, as I did not want to soak him down, now that winter has come, but living in the west, nights are not too bad at the moment. Picked up a foam cooler, cut a hole in it and put a towel in the bottom, and over it for a warm shelter. Is it possible that fleas got a hold of him? I know he has been scratching like crazy for the past few days, before I saw his sick symptoms, should have gave him the flea/mite solution sooner. I hear that fleas can lower potassium levels, making muscles hurt, if they get out of hand (should I give him pediolite?)? I spray my yard religiously, but maybe he picked them up around the neighborhood, though he pretty much stays around my property. He is eating and drinking very well and I had some extra A/D prescription food left over from a previous cat that I had for a very long time that I had to put down last year - broke my heart. Anyways, thoughts? I really do not want to take him to the vet as I have my own cat that has issues and has cost me quite a bit. Not too many vets in my town, and they charge ridiculous prices. Thanks again! If you have TARC buses in your town, just give him a good chuck under the rear tires... I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked. |

Deplorable NO MORE Michele B
User ID: 73347035 United States 11/14/2016 11:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thanks. Does anyone think it could be from fleas? Like I said he was great up until a few days ago, never had any issues prior to this. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73388990 I don't know anything about HIV in cats, so I don't know the symptoms.....but I know they can get run down really fast from fleas. They make them anemic and take all their energy, which can make every other disease worse. I also have feral cats in my backyard. One of them is majorly allergic to fleas. Her hair all falls out and she has big, blotchy spots all over her back and sides.... So I finally got close enough to throw some Borax on her back and in a day or two, the hair had started growing back! And I wasn't even able to rub it into her hair.... I only know fleas can complicate a lot of issues! Good luck with your sweet fluff-muffin.... |

Vet said that FIV+ sign is seen by looking in mouth at his gums. He gets coconut oil every couple of days. Wormwood, but not much, can be dangerous. Colloidal Silver in water. Why not check out animal rescue place, they have coupons for discounted vet services. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 46132026 United States 11/14/2016 11:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hi, I have a adopted feral cat with flv. He needs immune support everyday because their immune system is compromised. You need to actively suppress viruses. I use silver sol. which is an advanced form of ionic silver that is fda approved. Sovereign silver or American biotechnology labs silver is what you need and buy the largest bottle for reduced cost per ounce. I use it everyday on the phone FLv cat. It works by interrupting metabolism of virus or bacterium. It is safe, and also a treatment for wounds like cat bites. I have used it to successfully fight infection in cats for years and it is better than antibiotics because they can give cats diarrhea which is very bad. It works and it cost less than a vet visit for a huge bottle to treat your feline friends Unfortunately your cat sounds as if the virus moved into its bones and that's why they hurt. You need the silver quick and must give it a lot multiple times a day if it is to have a chance at surviving now that the leukemia virus moved into its bones God bless you and sick kitty. The American biotech labs or sovereign Silver is sold on amazon and elsewhere for 40%,,ess than retail s type stores |
