A quick story (modern this time):

So, there we are driving to Galway city in the car.
(Happy days).
The children want to do a bit of covert Christmas shopping. They don't want us hanging around as we cramp their style and it makes us feel unwanted/old/uncool/ and it also makes us feel like beating the shite out of them ungrateful little feckers!!!!!

So, my better half asks the children
"do ye have call credit in your phone so ye can ring us when ye are ready?"

"Eh no Da....."

"Of course not, here you give me your phone and when ye are ready you can ring me on mine."

Son to Daughter: "hahahahaha, Dad's going to be spying in your phone, you are sooooooo DEAD."

Daughter: "Nope, passwords, screen lock :P"

Son: "UMPH"

Me: "When someone rings it opens automatically and then he's in."

Daughter: face goes white

This is not a good sign to me and I'm worried as to what she's been doing.

A couple of hours later........

Ringtone....

My better half to me: "Look at this."

(on the phone his face and name is coming up as DARTH VADER and in true Daddy form he cups his hand around his mouth and in the deepest, raspiest utterance he could make, he said.....
"THIS IS YOUR FATHER"

We all laughed so much....

After my better half had hung up my interested was peeked for my contact face/name. So I rang her phone.

Hi guys, sorry I've been a bit MIA. I have a nasty flu and feel like... shit on a stick. And I miss my Beastie who is still away (AND our LJS who is also still away!). I will try catch up later today if I feel up to it. This time of year is brutal for cold/flu viruses. :-(

If you were nearby I would feed you all sorts of nasty, but very effective, homemade herbal tinctures. You'd be better in no time!

Oh, but if you have fresh garlic and Crisco you can make a home remedy. Let me know if you're interested.

Aww, thank you. I would happily drink all those down in a heartbeat to get rid of this flu. It's been nasty. Yesterday I woke up with a sore throat and it turned into chills/fever/body aches/no energy by the evening. I could hardly move. It's a bit better today but I feel like I am moving through a fog.

I have both those ingredients in the kitchen here so yes, please share it. Anything that help get rid of this would be awesome. I hate being sick, I get very dramatic and emo LOL.

Oh good! It smells awful, but it is effective. If you have to be out and about during the day just do it overnight.

Crush 5 garlic cloves and mix it with about a tablespoon of Crisco. Rub a thin layer on the bottom of your feet. Wrap your feet with cling wrap and put on warm socks (it will make your feet cold). Leave it on for 8 hours. You should start feeling better the next day, but you should probably do it for a few days anyway.

It's best to start when you first start feeling something coming on, but even started later it will help to shorten the duration.

I hope you feel better soon! I know the weather change here is always prime time for me to get sick so I'm hoping I don't. I wake up sneezing every morning. I assume it's allergies but who knows. Get rest of you can!

Took mom's Yukon to town to leave it to get some work done, and grandson Noah had a dentist appointment. He had a cavity filled and it hurt, so Grandpa and Dad took him to McDonalds (of course). That was the last we heard of the dentist. So we ended up being in town the rest of the day. He was the best little guy! He's here at my house since we got home watching Sponge Bob! Love it!
We bought two hams and other groceries for Thanksgiving. Moms doing a turkey and my dil's dad is doing a smoked turkey. I hear there will 25 of us.

Thank you I feel like I just got a bunch of warm fuzzy hugs from everyone. I am just glad I made it through the day, this is *brutal*. I caved and took some cold/flu medicine, the daytime stuff, because I was barely functional. That stuff is like speed, it perks you right up. Yikes.

Thank you, I will actually make this tonight if I can muster up the energy. Last night I was face down on the couch for hours and then dragged my ass up to bed. I'm going to smell delicious if I do this. I have heard stories about things on the bottom of feet working miracles. I wonder why that is? The body is amazing, isn't it?

Almost everyone I know is sick. Everyone is coughing, sneezing, something. These things seem to spread like wildfire when cold/flu season starts. Kind of scary when you think about it.

My favourite part of Thanksgiving is the stuffing. I could eat a whole dish of stuffing by myself. Thanksgiving is totally the best food holiday.

I'm glad you and Noah had such an awesome day after the dentist and that you were able to make it better for him. Poor little guy, I hate the dentist too but I'm glad he's feeling better and the cavity was taken care of. He sounds like a sweetheart and he is very lucky to have you as a grandpa!
