Harvard coincidence? A poorly veiled appeal on why fast tracking a vaccine trial that would generally be regarded as unethical is the “ethical” choice. [ link to dash.harvard.edu (secure)] Quoting: Augie I dunno, I am inclined to believe that at this point a vaccine for this thing is more like the antidote. It is a chimera and you gotta fight fire with fire. I have a sister in law with a phd in virology from Oxford. I have learned a lot from her lately. Quoting: MilaMoon I’m not sure what “alerted” my spidey senses about that article. I’m sure you’re right about the necessity of a vaccine. Maybe I was confused by their need to ascribe ethical justification to a common sense solution. I guess IRBs for granting vaccine studies may call for an early preemptive maneuver to address any “ethical” arguments. Never mind. Quoting: Augie I dont know tbh, it is hard to say because in situations like these even the good guys might have to modify their ethics. Like that saying how it takes a violent good guy to protect you from a violent bad guy. In this case, perhaps it takes a mad scientist on team good guy to protect you from the mad scientist on team bad guy. Lines get blurred. Gray work. ^^^ Like that.
