Just FART when you're with him.

And next - he'll vanish like a fart in the wind.

Answer the phone, tell him you aren't interested. Do it in a reasonable manner. If he calls again, tell him to fuck off.

Wouldn't that be kind of like feeding a stray cat in order to get rid of it?

Ask him if you can borrow can thousand dollars.

Every time you see him ask for a loan.

He will avoid talking to you.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1164656

That could work. Unless he says yes.

Tell your mutual friend you're not interested and having trouble getting the message across. It was his/her idea that no strings would be attached. Enlist their help. Maybe they won't be so quick to play matchmaker next time.

I think I will. She's the expert. She dates all the time. I haven't in over 20 years. But if memory serves there were generally more to it than just coffee.

It's not like him texting you all the time would change anything. :o)

I wouldn't feed the stray either.

I would tell him I'm not interested in a relationship and leave it at that. Tell your friends to stop prying.

I get the quick sense you're capable of setting them all straight. I like that in a woman. Hey what's your #?

Sorry just had to try...

Best way to be let down gently is to tell a white lie.

Start talking about another guy you've been interested in, assuming he's not a complete nutter you will probably survive the jealousy onslaught considering you've only had coffee.

Worse case scenario, you end up chopped into pieces and buried somewhere. Life is about risks.

Bad Bad advice. I think he/she knew it too.

Op just don't answer his calls if you're not into him. If you bump into him, tell him you're busy & not interested in any relationships right now. Be nice...but keep him at arms length...

Yeah I think have to combine telling him I'm just too busy. He can come to my job as a legitimate customer but has not. I think it won't be terribly difficult to run him off. You can't blame a guy for trying. But I want to make sure he doesn't waste any more time hoping.

Be nice but firm. I've been single for a while and it can be lonely at times.

Maybe he is just looking for a friend.

Re: I had coffee with someone and can't get rid of him now.
All the warning signs were there from the beginning. Either your friend was trying to set you two up or offload them onto you. Either way take it as a learning experience and remember that having coffee with someone who is not already your friend is either gonna be for business or sex. Since your friend would not state the business it's obvious the guy wanted to hook up with you.

You should grill your friend for being underhanded and get them to pass it on that you are not interested in this person.

I know. Believe me, I get it. The holidays can make it even worse. Plus I'm not a mean person to begin with. I don't like to hurt someone's feelings. But I know the quicker I'm honest with him the better.

Re: I had coffee with someone and can't get rid of him now.
He was probably already interested in you & had your mutual friends suggest meeting him for coffee. Now he is going to be a nuisance until you tell him you're not interested. Good luck, I hate finding myself in these kinds of situations.

He may be lonely so be gentle no matter what. Could just create some other things that keep coming up, and he'll get the point gradually.
 Quoting: Sungaze_At_Dawn

That's it! I want to be kind. He's nice. I don't want him to think I'm interested. But saying I just want to be friends doesn't sound nice.
