It was bound to happen. New elements are created in extremely tiny amounts every so often. Element 113 was created at the time Lazar came out with his story.

This is not proof. I believe Lazar's story though. They denied he worked at Los Alamos to discredit him, then later on Lazar's name was found in a Los Alamos lab's directory.
