Early on, right here on GLP someone said there was rumor of matches or something near where the fire began.

Reports on my local say the names and ages are not being released at this time due to Tennessee Law.

Judge has 72 hours to hear some information while the 2 are being held.

After the 72 hour hold, judge MUST rule on how the two will be charged.

Either as adults to stand trial.

As minors to stand juvenile court.

Or as minors who are released to their parents.


The 3rd option makes me think these kids might be like, really young...8 or 10ish.

Having lived in that area, my guess is just some dumb ridgerunner juvenile delinquents looking for entertainment. Not your typical Southerners, but your typical backwoods trailer trash. Hope they throw the book at them.

When I lived in the mountains, I spent every cent I had rescuing puppies that these yahoos would toss in boxes off the back of their trucks. Inbreeding is an actual thing.

To put it simply, my 40 years in wild land fire says many didn't have a chance.

Two moran juveniles from Tennessee started the fire in Nederland, Colorado that burned homes earlier this summer.

What are they breeding these ignorant pieces of,...oh, wait,... they are.

They'll be 15-17 years old. Old enough to drive themselves. The trailhead is in the middle of nowhere, and it's not an easy hike for most people. Some have died hiking that trail.

If they had parents with them, they'd have been arrested as well for facilitating arson.

If the parents let them out at the trailhead and sent 8-10 year olds up the mountain alone while they sat in the car for hours, they'd have been arrested as well for neglect, and for facilitating arson.

Consequently, 15-17 means they can probably charge them as adults and by the time it all gets sorted out, they'll be old enough to go straight to adult prison.

Class A felony in TN is up to 60 years. My guess is with the fatalities, they'll be looking at life without parole... unless the parents are rich or politically connected in TN, in which case they might only get 25 years, out early with good behavior.

I'd like to see them horsewhipped and then hung from a tree, though.

*They arrested 2 Juveniles today based on info gained from anonymous tips

*Residents were allowed in today to inspect their property but have to be out of town by 10PM

*Town will open to visitors and businesses open Friday

*There are lots of people complaining about the way red cross is handling donations.
They are turning away things and want cash only.
One woman drove from Georgia with a pickup truck load of disposable diapers and other things needed for infants. Red cross told her they did not need them. Only when workers saw her leaving and flagged her down and sent her to one of the shelters where those things were desperately needed.

* There have been a people caught pretending to be homeless due to the fire trying to get help.

* If anyone wants to donate anything, the local animal shelter said they would take anything even opened bags of food that peoples animals would not eat. There are also several Volunteer Fire Departments from all over the area that used a large part of their budget and would welcome any donations. If anyone wants I will give addresses or phone numbers to the departments please do not give to the Red Cross because only a small part of what they are taking in is being actually used locally.
