Comet Pizza Shooter - Fake News? Questions? Mug Shot? Weapon used? Tattoos?

So, Ive recently had time to look at some of the coverage of the Comet Pizza Shooting. I see photos of the alleged shooter, and he is fairly clean looking.

But NY Times reports:

"In an arraignment on Monday, a heavily tattooed Mr. Welch, wearing a white jumpsuit and shackles, was ordered held."

Some reports state he had a shotgun, then most seem to have shifted to an assault rifle. But nowhere are there any images of ANY weapons.

I understand that witnesses reported no weapons.

How come we have seen no mug shots?

This SMELLS like FAKE NEWS to me.
