I might have something to add to the nature of this phenomenon. My girlfriend and I watched Christmas Vacation last Wednesday, which happened to be the 21st. It was her first time seeing it. In it, they recite part of "The Night Before Christmas"

I just brought up the Night Before Christmas lyric change to her. She said, "Yeah, I thought it was weird they said 'brains' instead of 'down' when they recited it in the movie."

When I watched it, with her setting next to me, I heard it the way it's always been. With "down". She heard it the new way.

Neither of us mentioned anything at the time, she thought it was just them being funny. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary at all.
