That IS the truth. The Holy Spirit interprets scripture to God's people.

Men interpret the Word of God in many ways and often are very wrong.

Otherwise, you are correct in saying that Catholics have been seriously influenced to believe other doctrines. I'd steer clear of bring this topic into your lecture because of the controversy of the Catholic church.

Protestant churches currently are becoming watered-down in a king of great apostasy. Welcoming new doctrines and accepting/tolerating what used to be called "sin".
It is a travesty of the worst kind to "add" or "change" the Word of God.

Read old books, good advice. But as the lecturer said, way too many books, but not much time, so must be selective based on certain criteria.

The lecture's purpose is basically to convince people to value old classic books that formed Western philosophical thought. Is it successful in influencing mind? I think it is quite successful with those who are already innately attracted to the meaning of life or to philosophical ideas. But to most people who are more pleasure seekers rather than truth seekers, this may not be as appealing.

I like the visuals and listened longer than I would have otherwise because of it. However without an introductory outline or a summary of the lecture's main points which I can usually read online prior to the many YouTube videos I watch I wasn't getting the point of the lecture. Perhaps because I'm very tired now I felt I was getting a jumble of info that wasn't connected.

Understand I should read old books and learn about historical facts. Well I already do. Just as I know about Elizabethan style costumes, hairstyles and makeup. Except that I don't think anyone else today would be motivated to do so unless there was a valid reason or motivation such as a tie in to their career goals or a special interest or particular hobby. In addition I firmly agree with you the language is a significant barrier.

Too tired to listen to the entire video beyond we should read old books. Not sufficiently convinced. Just watched a few videos on what the cities in already over crowded, smoggy, traffic clogged West Covina, Los Angeles County, will look like with high legal and illegal immigration in 2040. Now that was interesting although rather depressing actually. Glad I don't have kids to be concerned about.
