WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama commuted the sentences of 209 people and pardoned 64 others Tuesday as one of his final acts in the White House. "These 273 individuals learned that our nation is a forgiving nation, where hard work and a commitment to rehabilitation can lead to a second chance, and where wrongs from the past will not deprive an individual of the opportunity to move forward," read a statement on the White House website. During his time in the White House, President Obama gave 1,385 commutation grants, 504 included life sentences. He has issued a total of 212 pardons. Detailed list at link: [link to kfor.com] |

He can't pardon someone who has not been charged. I think it's probably that fucking traitor Bo bergdahl. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47795507 Yes he can. The power of a President to Pardon is not dependent upon whether or not a person has even be CHARGED. A Pardon can be done at anytime - even BEFORE a crime is actually committed. yup that sounds rational. |

A pardon for treason? When did that law become established? Surely, it was never the intent of the Founding Fathers of our Constitution to give a blanket pardon/forgiveness for any and all crimes committed against the people of the United States. We all know that the Bushes, Clintons, and Obamas are all guilty of treason against We the People. If they can be pardoned, then all others committing crimes should, also, be pardoned. Then we can get back to lynching parties, and bring back justice the old-fashioned way. |

He is going to do everything in his power to focus news on HIM. I would bet anything that there will be an "attack" or "school shooting" so the media has to cover that instead of Trump's inauguration too. And this must be a really big pardon because he gave no such warnings before his stunts yesterday with Manning and the terrorist he let off |

Pinned for more info. Quoting: Lady Jane Smith If it is the Hag, that is a de facto admission of her guilt. It can't be the hag though...she hasn't been charged or convicted of anything so there's nothing to be pardoned...? Q: Can a president issue a blanket pardon to an individual for crimes that may have been committed in the past but have not yet been discovered? A: Yes. That’s just what Gerald Ford did when he granted "a full, free, and absolute pardon" to Richard Nixon for crimes he "has committed or may have committed" while in office. Ford granted the blanket pardon to former president Nixon on Sept. 8, 1974, a month after Nixon had resigned from office in the wake of the Watergate scandal. Ford’s pardon ended any possibility of Nixon being prosecuted criminally. It covered more than obstruction of justice, however. It excused Nixon for "all offenses against the United States which he, Richard Nixon, has committed or may have committed or taken part in" during the period from January 20, 1969, through August 9, 1974. In short, Ford’s pardon covered any crimes Nixon may have committed between the time he was sworn in for his first term and the day he resigned. You may run, but you can't hide. |

The legal process would not have been completed therefore initiating a new indictment. |

Maybe a good guess: President Obama, pardon the DREAMers [link to www.cnn.com] Mass pardons are not allowed... would have to be done by individual. Governors have already tried this and the Supreme Court ruled they can't. Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man. |

I'm not sure he wants to call attention to one of his mistakes. Hopefully he will pardon those charged with not protecting classified documents who didn't do anything more than what the Hag is guilty of. Snowden? Bill Clinton? |

It's obvious Comey told the Dems the Clinton Foundation investigation revealed iron-clad evidence of influence peddling and treason that even the leftist news media couldn't ignore. Snowden will probably be pardoned this afternoon and tomorrow, just before the inauguration, the news that Hillary and all the Dems who were involved in covering up the Clinton scandal are pardoned is going to hit the airwaves. It'll be Obunghole's final fuck you to White America and the perfect way to take attention away from Trump. Governors have already tried this and the Supreme Court ruled they can't. From the article above: "The Obama administration's response misses the point. No one is asking for legal status for the DREAMers; what House Democrats are seeking is a presidential pardon for them. This would be completely within the President's constitutional and legal authority, and in keeping with historical precedent. With his legacy on immigration at stake, Obama should do the right thing and grant the DREAMers a pardon." This IS the most likely scenario..... Gerald Ford set the precedent for pardoning someone who hadn't been charged with Nixon. It probably wasn't legal then but it's all they would need to pull this. Weaving spiders come not here |
