Is that what Jupiter sounds like as recorded by NASA? Why the huge difference?

And why does it look so... flat?

I have a Celestron CGEM 1100 HD telescope but have not used it yet. Need to buy a house with a good yard in it. =)

I want to get into astrophotography.

Jupiter, like Earth, is a disk. Jupiter is a gas disk that floats along the firmament about a hundred mikes above the Earth. It's just a flaw in the firmament, nothing more.

Nice. I head for the country when I want to use mine. Too much light pollution in the city.

Re: Jupiter through telescope
Yeah wheres the moons? Although that view might be too close-in
to catch them. FYI I was able to show my children Jupiter and 4
moons just with 30x survey-grade theodelite telescope (Topcon)
and a really dark summer night in the Adirondacks.

Freakin awesome. You don't need much to explore the sky but it
does help if you have a rig that won't move when they grab it

The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object.

~ Thomas Jefferson, Inaugural Address, 1801

It is not only vain, but wicked, in a legislator to frame laws in opposition to the laws of nature, and to arm them with the terrors of death. This is truly creating crimes in order to punish them.
