They bring up the popular vote, because the OP of this thread said that Trump supporters are in the majority, when by all numbers [and why there will be unrest his entire term]. While the right side of the spectrum may feel vindicated by a win, they aren't a majority. Trump won the electoral college fairly. Doesn't mean all the people who were underrepresented [a california vote is worth about 30% than a Wyoming vote] are going to just sit back. Again, don't confuse geographical territory with population. Those red and blue maps of the US are misleading, since most of the country is empty.
